I really like Chane, his game his personality. He has proven one thing to me that I was told by a recruit awhile back…coaches that get in early are usually the ones with the upper hand. I know IU is in late, not sure of the interest level and to be honest I could see him as an WVU kid. I am glad Crean has had the opportunity to build relationships with the 2011 kids and the 2012 kids, it will pay off soon…

I think we're a long shot to land him. I'm not saying Crean should write him off just yet–get him to Bloomington to play some games with our players, sit down and talk with him afterward–but if his opinion doesn't drastically change after that visit (i.e. vaulting IU into his top 3 alongside UofL and WVU), I think our efforts will be better spent elsewhere.

I could be wrong, but isn't Behanan a bit of a 'tweener at the college level? He's described as a banger, someone who uses his strength and body to get in the lane and grab rebounds and finish. But at 6'6″, he's pretty undersized for a PF… especially in the big ten. I'm not sure how his game would translate at the next level. I'm not saying that this kid won't be good, but his height would worry me if I were a coach. We may be better off landing someone like Perea in the 2012 class.

I was thinking the same thing. There aren't a lot of Jerome Lanes, Corliss Williamsons, and Gary Trents in D-I.

Uncle Joey, so you'd turn away Dray Green?

  • Uncle Joey

Of course not. What I'm saying is that I think most of Behanan's dominance is based on the fact that he's going up against much smaller and skinnier opponents in high school and AAU… so he's able to physical dominate them around the basket. He'll go to a high major school where he won't be able to use this sort of dominance, so he'll have to have more tools in his arsenal to be able to compete and contribute. What I'm saying is that I wouldn't be too heartbroken if he went somewhere else, which seems likely at this point. Crean has gotten in with this kid fairly late in the game, and Behanan even said himself that he will be more likely to go to a school that has been recruiting him for awhile.

Also, I haven't seen hardly any clips of him, so I'm basing a lot of this judgment purely on his height and the position he plays. I could be completely wrong.

  • He was the MVP of a camp with the best players in the country. He might be undersized, but I don't believe holding his own at the next level will be a problem.

FYI…via twitter, Mike Davis says help is on the way at 9pm. Lebron to UAB.

I also don't think Chane's size will be an issue at all. In college coaches can get away with hiding players deficiencies so I don't think it will be a big deal.

Our chances of landing this kid are slim and none…at best. He had a chance to say something positive about IU more than once and the most I remember him saying was “they've never even seen me play but offered me”. Didn't even say CTC's name and seemed like the person doing the interview had to almost force the words IU out of him. I say file this one under stay in contact but doen't take time away from certain others and if something does happen by chance all the much better. Would love to have him but I am not going to lose sleep over him going elsewhere but weirder things have happened in the wacky world of college bball recruiting. Who ever thought people would stay up to 2 or 3:00 in the morning waiting for a decision, that never came, to be made by an eighteen year old kid, you know wacky stuff such as that.

this kid has that look about him. he's going to be a force for somebody. generally the pickens are pretty slim in the bluegrass state. hopefully we can land him.
