Hi everybody.
A quick note: we’re now live with a refreshed look for Inside the Hall.
Change can be difficult and take time to adjust to, especially for those of you who visit Inside the Hall daily. However, the idea here was not to reinvent the wheel. The site remains largely the same structurally. Disqus still runs our commenting platform and our writing staff and content remain the same.
The why behind the refreshed look? It’s been over a decade since we updated the site’s visual language and design system and things were starting to feel dated. The goal here was to modernize the design without chasing trends. And if we did that right, we hopefully shouldn’t have to touch things again for a while. We’ve also made the design and information architecture of pages like the schedule, roster and scholarship numbers a bit more thoughtful and intentional.
All this said, there is a new component to highlight. Introducing The Notebook, a section for short dispatches from the beat. A lot of news out there doesn’t rise to the level of a full article for us, doesn’t need to be covered in detail, but didn’t have a true home on the site. Now those tidbits do.
The latest Notebook entry runs after the third article on the homepage. It also has a dedicated page for the full archive.

Lastly, thanks for reading. In an era where some have declared independent publishing on the open web all but dead, you all make it very much alive for us still. Onwards!
