IU football is ranked No. 6 in preseason Associated Press top 25 poll

The preseason Associated Press top 25 college football poll was released Monday and Indiana is ranked No. 6.

The Hoosiers were No. 20 in the preseason AP poll last season before finishing 16-0 and winning the CFP national championship.

Indiana is also ranked No. 6 in the preseason AFCA coaches top 25 poll.

Indiana, which was No. 1 on eight ballots, received 1,440 points in the poll.

Ohio State is the highest-ranked Big Ten team in the preseason at No. 1, followed by Oregon at No. 2. Georgia is No. 3, Notre Dame is No. 4 and Texas is No. 5.

Also ranked in the preseason from the Big Ten: USC at No. 14, Michigan at No. 16, Penn State at No. 17, Washington at No. 17 and Iowa at No. 22.

Illinois and Minnesota received votes.

The Hoosiers open the 2026 season against North Texas at Memorial Stadium at 12 p.m. ET on September 5.
