6-Banner Sunday: NBA workouts for former Hoosiers, 2026-27 season projections and more

Welcome to another edition of 6-Banner Sunday, a joint production between The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall, where we highlight the five most essential IU sports stories of the past week. 6-Banner Sunday is written by Ari Shifron.

Hoosiers from last season’s roster are taking their shot at the NBA. While they face an uphill battle, workouts with pro franchises nonetheless took place.

Also, Inside the Hall launched a series previewing each Big Ten team, projections for the 2026-27 season continue to be updated and IU’s prep for Peru is underway. As usual, we will conclude with a look at Podcast on the Brink and Back Home Network shows and the rest of the IU sports in action, which were led by men’s soccer announcing its fall schedule.

Here is what is in this week’s edition:

• Former Hoosiers begin workouts for NBA teams
• Inside the Hall’s Big Ten offseason at a glance series
• 2026-27 season projections
• IU begins workouts for upcoming Peru trip
• Podcast on the Brink and Back Home Network shows
• Hoosier Roundup

Banner #1 – Former Hoosiers begin workouts for NBA teams

While no recent former Hoosiers are necessarily projected to be drafted, that doesn’t mean teams are not interested in trying them out. Between Summer League contracts, G-League contracts and two-way deals, the ways into the NBA can go beyond draft night, even if the odds are longer.

This week, both Lamar Wilkerson and Sam Alexis got workouts with NBA teams. This duo was joined by Tucker DeVries, who also showed off his skills for the pros.

Banner #2 – Inside the Hall’s Big Ten offseason at a glance series

Inside the Hall launched a series looking at each Big Ten squad’s offseason in detail. This week saw teams projected near the back of the field reviewed in Penn StateRutgersMinnesotaNorthwestern, and Washington.

Banner #3 – 2026-27 season projections

IU is expected to be much improved this upcoming fall following its offseason roster changes. Projections have Indiana picked relatively high heading into the 2026-2027 season, both in the Big Ten and nationally.

This has fans relatively optimistic for the fall. Inside the Hall will provide coverage throughout the season with two new student reporters, Ian Plaskoff and Zach Horwitz.

Many teams are in offseason mode. However, the Hoosiers are in a different spot, with competition coming up relatively soon. This is because Indiana will represent the United States at the FISU America Games in Peru. IU is already working out and preparing for this event.

Banner #5 – Podcast on the Brink and Back Home Network shows

Inside the Hall’s Podcast on the Brink returned this week. On the episode, Dylan Burkhardt joined Alex Bozich to discuss the upcoming Big Ten season.

The Back Home Network has many shows. As a result, it was on air several times this week with programming.
