Several former IU basketball players are having strong seasons this winter across the country. Three former Hoosiers are playing for Big Ten programs.

Here’s an updated look at how every former scholarship player for the Hoosiers is performing as the regular season hits the final stretch:

Kaleb Banks, DePaul
Team record and KenPom rank: 13-12, No. 113

Banks has started 10 of the 25 games he’s appeared in for the Blue Demons. He’s averaging 6.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.5 assists in 17 minutes per game.

The Hampton, Georgia, native is shooting 44 percent from the field, 35.8 percent on 3s and 75.5 percent from the free-throw line. He’s scored in double figures five times, including a season-high 19 points and 10 rebounds in a loss at St. John’s on December 16.

Kanaan Carlyle, Florida Atlantic
Team record and KenPom rank: 14-12, No. 116

Carlyle has missed five games this season, including three of the last five, due to a calf injury. The 6-foot-3 junior from Atlanta has started 20 of the 21 games he’s appeared in and is averaging 14 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 30.5 minutes per game.

The former four-star recruit is shooting 41.7 percent from the field, 32.1 percent on 3s and 88.9 percent from the free-throw line. Carlyle has three KenPom Game MVPs this season and four games with 21 or more points.

Gabe Cupps, Ohio State
Team record and KenPom rank: 17-9, No. 37

The former Ohio Mr. Basketball averages 13 minutes per game for the Buckeyes, but his statistical production remains meager.

Cupps averages just 1.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists while shooting 35.3 percent from the field, 21.1 percent on 3s and 82.4 percent from the line. Cupps has not scored more than nine points in a game this season.

Logan Duncomb, Winthrop
Team record and KenPom rank: 19-8, No. 132

Duncomb has been Winthrop’s best player all season, averaging 18.6 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 25.4 minutes per game. He’s shooting 60.1 percent from the field and 72.6 percent from the line.

The 6-foot-10 big man from Cincinnati has earned KenPom Game MVP honors nine times and scored a career-high 38 points against Presbyterian on January 24. Duncomb has 10 double-doubles.

CJ Gunn, DePaul
Team record and KenPom rank: 13-12, No. 113

The Indianapolis native is averaging a career-best 13.8 points in 27.8 minutes per game for the Blue Demons. He’s also averaging 3.6 rebounds, two assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 42.3 percent from the field. Gunn is 45-for-130 on 3-pointers, good for 34.6 percent.

His best game this season came in an 80-75 win against Marquette on January 16. Gunn scored 31 points and made seven of his 13 3-point attempts. He’s earned KenPom Game MVP honors four times this season and has 16 games scoring in double figures.

Dallas James, Morgan State
Team record and KenPom rank: 10-14, No. 352

The 7-foot-1 big man plays just 6.5 minutes per game for the Bears, who are one of the worst teams in Division I.

James averages 1.5 points and 1.6 rebounds while shooting 45.8 percent from the floor.

Mackenzie Mgbako, Texas A&M
Team record and KenPom rank: 17-8, No. 53

Mgbako played in only seven games this season for the Aggies before suffering a season-ending foot injury that required surgery.

Assuming he returns to college next season, he’ll be a redshirt junior with two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Jakai Newton, Georgia State
Team record and KenPom rank: 9-18, No. 293

Newton has appeared in 21 games this season for the Panthers, making six starts. He’s averaging 7.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in 17 minutes.

Malik Reneau, Miami (FL)
Team record and KenPom rank: 21-5, No. 40

He’s shooting 56.4 percent from the field, 35.1 percent on 3s and 77.9 percent from the free-throw line. Reneau has seven double-doubles, 15 games with 20 or more points and eight KenPom Game MVPs.

Myles Rice, Maryland
Team record and KenPom rank: 10-15, No. 134

Rice has not played in the last four games and the only way to characterize his season is disastrous. It’ll be a shock if Rice returns to Maryland and doesn’t enter the transfer portal again.

In 17 games for the Terps, he’s averaging 5.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists. He’s playing 16.5 minutes per game and is shooting 36.6 percent from the field, 34.4 percent on 3s and 92.6 percent from the free-throw line.
