Class of 2025 Montverde Academy (Fla.) forward and Indiana native Trent Sisley wrapped up a productive senior season last month.

The 6-foot-7 Sisley, a four-star prospect and the No. 76 player nationally according to the 247Sports Composite, averaged 10.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists at Montverde.

He shot 63 percent from the field, 44 percent on 3s and 67 percent from the free-throw line.

Inside the Hall spoke with Sisley recently and recapped his final high school season and looked ahead to his future as a Hoosier in Bloomington. Our full Q & A is below:

On the biggest benefit from spending his senior season at Montverde:

“It was a sacrifice, but the biggest benefit for me was practicing and playing against the best. And getting coached by the best, every day. Obviously, you are away from home, too, so you’re more focused on what you need to do and also getting ready for college. Just the prep for college is the biggest thing and the development.”

On the development of his game at Montverde:

“I think it definitely helped me down there with the consistency on my jump shot and learning how to do a lot of different things. Just being more versatile, I think I always have been, and being more of an outside scorer, and also scoring inside when they needed me to at times this year. I think just the main part was just the consistency on my jump shot and just the everyday grind and learning how to do all of that a year early.”

On what a typical day is like at Montverde:

“School in the morning when you get up and head to practice after school. Practice for two to three hours and have dinner and a little break and then go back and shoot at night for an hour. I got better and I know my teammates got better. It was a great season and great development from all of that this year.”

On how the competition in the games aided in his development:

“It was huge. I played EYBL for two to three years and played in adidas last summer. I played with great teammates, played against great players. It was different because of the scouting report and that aspect of stuff. Everyone is prepped, prepared and ready to go. You practice, make adjustments and I think that and the travel. Because it’s not like AAU where you’re traveling and playing four games on a neutral site. You’re playing away games, tournament games. The competition and the way you prepare helped.”

On his mindset when IU changed coaches and how proactive IU was in letting him know he was a priority through the transition:

“I was super close to the old staff. I loved all of those guys and what happened, happened. IU was super proactive about it. (Scott) Dolson talked to me and my family a lot. He kept us in the loop. Not necessarily with names and stuff like that throughout the process, but constantly talking to us. When it got announced, coach (Darian) DeVries was super quick to call me. Probably 20 to 30 minutes later he gave me a quick call.”

On the message was from DeVries:

“Just introducing himself to me. He had talked to Dolson about me. He said he could still utilize my skillset in his system. He thinks that I’ll fit great in the system and that he was looking forward to getting to know me. And obviously that he still wanted me and I shared that I still wanted to be there and be a Hoosier. That’s what went on.”

On the relationship he’s built with DeVries:

“Coach DeVries called me and FaceTimed me in the first few weeks and as assistants were hired, I got texts from them, calls from them. They were also recruiting the portal, so they were all busy. They’ve all made time to reach out.”

On why he opted to stay committed and not explore his options during the coaching change:

“I think it’s just, ever since I committed, and even a little bit before, I knew I wanted to be there. I grew up close and I want to be a part of Indiana basketball. And they hired coach DeVries, a great coach. He has a great plan for me and for all of the kids he’s bringing in this year. I think we can be really good this year and in the years to follow.”

On the roster IU has assembled for next season:

“Super excited. They’ve brought in a lot of guys with experience from a lot of different places. Most of them are pretty accomplished and have done pretty well at their old schools. As of now, I’m the only freshman so going in and having leadership from those guys and the coaching staff will be huge. I think he recruited with a plan and has a plan for all of us and for the team. It should be a lot of fun next year.”

On the development of Tucker DeVries and whether that’s the type of player he’d like develop into long term:

“Yeah, for sure. I think I’ve been trying to get there for at least the last two years now, trying to extend my game outwards and use my shot as much as I can. Obviously, he’s really good at that and they have a lot of people on the team now that are good shooters, good playmakers. Skill development is why I made the move this year (to Montverde) and just trying to build on that next year and the four years at IU, it’ll be huge.”

On what is ahead in the next few weeks:

“I graduate from Montverde on May 17. I should be home on the 18th or 19th, then I’m home for a few days, working out and getting ready. Then I think we’re going on a quick vacation and I think I’m at IU in the last few days of May or early June. Then it’s straight to work and get ready for the season.”
