IU basketball landed its third commitment in the class of 2027 on Tuesday.
Senior big man Darius Wabbington, a nationally ranked five-star recruit, announced his pledge to the Hoosiers.
Wabbington joins guard Chase Branham and big man Felix Kiehlneker in the program’s 2027 class.
The 6-foot-11, 255-pound center is the No. 13 player nationally in the 2027 class according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Wabbington plays at Sunnyslope High School. Wabbington took official visits to Arizona, Illinois and Indiana before selecting the Hoosiers.
Wabbington played for the Compton Magic on the adidas 3SSB circuit and has extensive experience with USA Basketball. Most recently, he was on the 2026 USA Men’s U18 team.
Last season, he led Sunnyslope to a state championship.
Regarded as the most skilled big man nationally in the senior class, Wabbington is a perimeter shooting threat, possesses solid touch and is a talented passer.
With Wabbington and Branham in the fold for the 2027, the Hoosiers now have two of the top 30 players in the 247Sports composite rankings committed to sign this fall.
Scouting report
“Wabbington is the most skilled big man in the national class. He has naturally soft hands and touch, is an excellent ball-handler and passer (especially good lob thrower), and developing floor-spacing shooter. He’s a wide-body who has gradually improved his conditioning, but could still better sculpt his frame. He has some sneaky agility, but is never going to be naturally quick or athletic. However, he’s continued to grow throughout his high school years and is now close to seven-feet with a long 7-foot-4 wingspan.” – Adam Finkelstein, 247Sports
