Reports: Notre Dame transfer guard Markus Burton to visit IU basketball

According to multiple reports, Notre Dame transfer Markus Burton has set up a pair of visits, including one to Indiana.

Joe Tipton of On3.com and Jeff Rabjohns of Peegs/247Sports both reported Wednesday afternoon that Burton is scheduled to visit Houston and then Indiana.

The transfer portal opened on Tuesday, April 7, but visits cannot begin until Friday, April 10, due to an NCAA recruiting dead period.

Burton, a 6-foot guard who was Indiana’s Mr. Basketball in 2023, will reportedly arrive at IU for a visit beginning on Sunday, April 12.

A native of Mishawaka, Burton played high school basketball at Penn and spent three seasons at Notre Dame under Micah Shrewsberry before entering the transfer portal.

Over 69 career games for the Fighting Irish, he averaged 19.1 points, 3.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 33.2 minutes per game.

Burton played in only 10 games in the 2025-26 season due to a foot injury, so he is likely to have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
