IU football soars in national polls following blowout win against Illinois

IU football rose in the national polls following Saturday’s dismantling of Illinois at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington.

The Hoosiers crushed the Fighting Illini 63-10 in primetime on NBC and got the attention of a national audience with the emphatic victory.

Indiana rose eight spots to No. 11 in the latest Associated Press top 25 poll.

Ohio State remained No. 1 and Penn State fell to No. 3 in the AP poll.

Oregon remained No. 6, Illinois fell from No. 9 to No. 23, Michigan moved up two spots to No. 19 and USC climbed to No. 21.

In the US LBM coaches poll, the Hoosiers rose five spots to No. 12.

The top seven teams remained the same in this week’s coaches poll: No. 1 Ohio State followed by Penn State, Georgia, LSU, Oregon, Miami (FL) and Texas.

Michigan climbed two spots to No. 18, USC entered the poll at No. 22 and Illinois fell 15 spots to No. 23. Washington, Maryland, Nebraska and Iowa all received votes.

IU coach Curt Cignetti is on the US LBM Board of Coaches for the 2025 season.

Kickoff for Saturday’s Big Ten clash against Iowa at Kinnick Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Peacock.
