6-Banner Sunday: IU basketball adds two walk-ons, women’s non-conference schedule announced

  • 2h ago

Welcome to another edition of 6-Banner Sunday, a joint production between The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall, where we highlight the five most essential IU basketball stories of the past week, plus take a look at how the other IU sports programs are doing.

IU basketball’s roster recently welcomed two new walk-ons. While these players are not expected to have major roles, they will provide depth for practice.

Additionally, women’s basketball announced its non-conference schedule and football recorded its second victory. As usual, we will conclude with weekly shows and a look at other Hoosier sports, which was highlighted by soccer emerging victorious against two ranked squads.

Here is what is in this week’s edition:

• Two walk-ons added to 2025-26 roster
• Women’s basketball announces non-conference schedule
• ITH and UMHoops rank the top 40 Big Ten players for the 2025-26 season
• IU football dominates Kennesaw State
• Podcast on the Brink and Back Home Network shows
• Hoosier Roundup

Banner #1 – Two walk-ons added to 2025-26 roster

The roster of scholarship players who will contribute this fall has been completed for a while. However, there can never be enough walk-ons that will be used primarily for competition in practice.

With the additions of these two non-scholarship freshmen, the roster now stands at 17 players with four walk-ons. Besides returnees Jordan Rayford and Ian Stephens, the squad revealed the additions of freshmen Tryce Grensing and Drew Snively.

Grensing is from Murfreesboro, Tennessee and attended Providence Christian Academy. Meanwhile, Snively is a local from suburban Indianapolis and went to Zionsville High School.

Meanwhile, turning to further down the road, IU is trying to reel in top recruits for 2026. Top-15 prospect Arafan Diane is down to five schools, including Indiana. He will also visit Bloomington on homecoming weekend from October 17-19.

Banner #2 – Women’s basketball announces non-conference schedule

While the men’s squad released its non-conference schedule a while ago, the women’s side just announced theirs this week. Their only exhibition contest will kick things off on October 27 against Missouri S&T before things officially get underway when hosting Lipscomb on November 4.

The toughest matchups occur in a five-game stretch that spans a two-week period from November 16 to November 30. In this time, the Hoosiers will travel to Florida State, take on Butler in Assembly Hall, before going back to the Sunshine State to face Florida Gulf Coast, Gonzaga and either Iowa State or Marquette.

Banner #3 – ITH and UMHoops rank the top 40 Big Ten players for the 2025-26 season

With the season drawing closer, Inside the Hall and UMHoops finished their series previewing the top 40 players in the Big Ten.

Numbers 1-20 have now been revealed, with Tucker DeVries being the only Hoosier making the top 20 at No. 15.

Banner #4 – IU football dominates Kennesaw State

Expectations are high that IU football can come close to repeating last year’s success. This weekend was matchup number two, coming against Kennesaw State, and this time, the Hoosiers cruised to an easy 56-9 victory to improve to 2-0.

Issues with short yardage and offensive line play near the goal line were much improved from week one, as Indiana scored eight touchdowns this week after just three against Old Dominion. Also, star wide receiver Elijah Sarratt broke out with nine receptions for 97 yards and three touchdowns.

Pre-conference play continues next Friday. The Cream and Crimson will once again be the heavy favorites as they face Indiana State at 6:30 p.m. ET on BTN.

Banner #5 – Podcast on the Brink and Back Home Network shows

Inside the Hall’s Podcast on the Brink was joined by Sleepers Media’s Greg Waddell to discuss the upcoming Big Ten basketball season.

The Back Home Network was on air many times this week as new shows continue to be added. Big Red CarpetCrimsonCASHCrimson CastDoing The WorkDribble DriveFootball Weather, and Right Up Meridian all had episodes over the last few days.
