IU basketball freshman guard Aleksa Ristic is now on campus
IU freshman guard Aleksa Ristic, a native of Serbia, is now on campus and has joined the team for the 2025-26 season. He is expected to make next week’s trip to Puerto Rico.
The 6-foot-4 Ristic posted photos on his Instagram account on Friday of a photo shoot in the IU locker room.
Ristic committed to the Hoosiers on June 16 and the program officially announced his signing on July 8.
Last month, Ristic played seven games for Serbia in the FIBA U20 Eurobasket in Heraklion, Greece. He averaged 11.3 points, 6.3 assists, 1.9 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 2.4 turnovers in 32.1 minutes per game.
Earlier this week in his press conference, Darian DeVries said he was hopeful Ristic and Bosnian big man Andrej Acimovic would arrive in Bloomington soon.
“They’re going to be tired when they get here,” DeVries said with a smile. “We should have for sure one of them, hopefully, in the next day or two. That’s our hope. Then we’ll get him acclimated as quickly as possible. If that means he gets the opportunity to play in Puerto Rico great. If we can’t get him close enough there, the last thing we want to do is put him in a position where he’s just not ready.”
“But I’m excited for that. It’s just going to add to our depth, getting more guys as we get into the fall, hopefully healthy. Hopefully, we can get through Puerto Rico in a good state and get some more bodies in here and continuing to develop that depth is going to be important for us.”
IU basketball departs for a three-game exhibition tour in Puerto Rico on Monday.
