As expected, Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens is not a candidate for the coaching position at Indiana University.

On Friday, Stevens told Jeff Goodman that he is happy in Boston.

“I thoroughly appreciate being a Celtic and love the people I get to work with every day,” Stevens told Goodman.

Stevens, 48, has been discussed as a candidate for the IU opening on multiple occasions, including in 2017 and 2021, but is entrenched with the Celtics in their front office.

The Zionsville native coached the Celtics from 2013 through 2021 before moving into his current role in the summer of 2021.

The Celtics won the NBA championship in 2024 and Stevens was named the league’s executive of the year in 2024.

Stevens served as Butler’s head coach from 2007 through 2013 and led the Bulldogs to back-to-back appearances in the national championship game in 2010 and 2011.
