Indiana Basketball Transfer Portal Big Board: April 10, 2023
Transfer portal recruiting remains a priority across the country and it’s time for another update to our transfer portal big board for IU basketball.
The transfer portal does not close until May 11, so new names could still emerge.
Indiana has already secured a commitment from Ball State big man Payton Sparks. The Hoosiers currently have four open scholarships for next season, assuming Xavier Johnson is granted a medical hardship waiver.
A dead period prohibiting in-person recruiting on and off campus began today and lasts through Thursday, April 13.
Here’s a current look at the transfer portal names you need to know:
Kel’el Ware, Oregon
2022-23 stats: 6.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.3 blocks in 15.8 minutes per game
Scouting video:
Notes: A five-star prospect in the 2022 class, Ware is leaving Oregon after one season and is a priority target for the Indiana staff. He wrapped up an official visit to Indiana on Friday and his transfer decision is imminent.

Notes: Indiana visited Timberlake in person prior to the dead period for recruiting, but has a lot of competition in his recruitment. Timberlake, a 6-foot-4 guard, is considered one of the best available shooters in the country. Thus far, Timberlake has visited UNC and Kansas and has a visit scheduled to UConn. An IU visit has not been scheduled.

Notes: DeLoach is an intriguing prospect because of size and ability to score at the rim. The 6-foot-9, 215-pound forward is a native of Savannah, Georgia. He has Indiana among the six schools he’s considering and has a visit scheduled for April 14.

El Ellis, Louisville
2022-23 stats: 17.7 points, 4.4 assists, 2.6 rebounds and a steal in 36 minutes per game
Scouting video:
Notes: Indiana has been mentioned as a school expressing interest in Ellis, but he doesn’t make much sense for the Hoosiers if Xavier Johnson is granted a medical hardship waiver for next season. Ellis also has his name in the NBA draft.
