Indiana is scheduled to host Ball State transfer Payton Sparks for an unofficial visit on Monday.
The Winchester, Indiana native is a 6-foot-9, 240-pound center. He averaged 13.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists last season as a sophomore for the Cardinals. He was named All-MAC second team. Sparks was fourth in the MAC in rebounding and he also had 10 double-doubles.
Sparks ranked third in the country in free throw rate (FTA/FGA) at 87.1 percent.
As a freshman, Sparks averaged 13.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists and was named the MAC freshman of the year.
Sparks, a lefty, started all 62 games he played for Ball State. He’s a career 61 percent free throw shooter and he shot 59.2 percent from the field last season for first-year coach Michael Lewis.
Sparks has two years of eligibility remaining.
