At the buzzer: Indiana 64, South Dakota State 50

Quick thoughts on a 64-50 win over South Dakota State:

How it happened: This win was the final piece to a perfect November for Indiana, but the Hoosiers won’t be able to get away with many more efforts like this. South Dakota State deserves some credit for making things difficult for Indiana by packing the paint and forcing the Hoosiers to become a jump shooting team. But careless turnovers, poor free throw shooting and questionable shot selection at times made this contest closer than it should have been. Still, it goes down as a win – Indiana’s seventh this month – and in three days, we’ll learn much more about where this group of Hoosiers stands when Florida State comes to Bloomington for the Big Ten-ACC Challenge.

Standout performer: Freshman Trayce Jackson-Davis recorded his fourth double-double in seven games. The Center Grove product and 2019 Indiana Mr. Basketball finished with 19 points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots in 31 minutes.

Statistic that stands out: From a defensive standpoint, this was Indiana’s best performance of the season as they held the Jackrabbits to just .72 points per possession. The previous best for the Hoosiers was the Troy game (.805 points per possession allowed).
