For the third consecutive season, Indiana will not play in the NCAA tournament.

The Hoosiers were one of the “first four teams out” for this year’s tournament after finishing the regular season and the Big Ten tournament with a 17-15 record.

As one of the first four teams out, Indiana is expected to be a No. 1 seed in the NIT and would host a game at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Tuesday, Mar. 19 or Wednesday, Mar. 20.

Indiana started the season 12-2 and was ranked as high as No. 21 in the Associated Press top 25 poll, but the Hoosiers dropped 12 of 13 games before winning their final four regular season contests.

In a game it absolutely needed to win, Indiana fell 79-75 to Ohio State on Thursday in the second round of the Big Ten tournament at the United Center in Chicago.

The NIT field will be revealed on ESPNU at 8:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Eight Big Ten teams qualified for the NCAA tournament: Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Wisconsin, Maryland, Iowa, Minnesota and Ohio State.
