CHAMPAIGN, Illinois – Thoughts on a 92-74 win at Illinois:

How it happened: This one was never in doubt. Indiana, desperately in need of a win to keep its NCAA tournament chances alive, dominated the Illini throughout. The Hoosiers led by as many as 22 as Illinois couldn’t force any turnovers nor could it keep IU out of the driving lanes. Credit freshman point guard Rob Phinisee for incredible composure throughout in terms of dealing with the Illinois pressure. The victory, which improves Indiana to 16-14 this season and 7-12 in Big Ten play, sets up the Hoosiers for a chance at a four-game winning streak and significant momentum heading into next week’s Big Ten tournament in Chicago.

Standout performers: Phinisee was terrific as he logged 32 minutes and finished with 17 points, five assists and no turnovers. Juwan Morgan scored a team-high 20 points to lead Indiana.

Statistic that stands out: Indiana scored a season-best 1.38 points per possession and scored 52 points in the paint in the win.
