Morgan, Langford named to 2018-19 preseason All-Big Ten team

At the start of today’s Big Ten Media Day in Rosemont, Illinois, the conference announced several preseason honors.

Purdue’s Carsen Edwards was named the preseason conference player of the year.

In addition, the Big Ten announced a preseason 10-man all-league team. Indiana senior Juwan Morgan and freshman Romeo Langford were both named to the team.

Joining Morgan and Langford were Edwards, Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ, Michigan State’s Cassius Winston and Nick Ward, Nebraska’s James Palmer Jr., Minnesota’s Jordan Murphy, Michigan’s Charles Matthews, Maryland’s Anthony Cowan Jr.

Happ and Edwards were the only two unanimous selections.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University senior Juwan Morgan and freshman Romeo Langford were named to the 10-member Preseason 2018-19 All-Big Ten team as voted on by the Big Ten Media Voting Panel. Langford is the only freshman honored and joins four juniors and five seniors on the squad which was announced today at Big Ten Media Day in Chicago.

Morgan, a 6-8 forward from Waynesville, Mo., is in his fourth year with the Hoosiers and earned All-Big Ten and All-District honors as a junior. He improved his overall scoring by 8.8 points and his Big Ten output by 10.6 points and started 30 games. He averaged 16.5 points overall and 7.4 rebounds. He needs 170 points to become the 52nd player in IU history to reach the 1,000-point mark in their career.

Langford, a 6-6 guard from New Albany, is the 27th former Indiana Mr. Basketball and 21st former McDonald’s All-American to wear the Cream and Crimson. He ranked fourth all-time in Indiana High School basketball history scoring 3,002 points and averaged 28.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in his four seasons as a prep. A two-time prep All-American, Langford was ranked the No. 5 player in the Class of 2018 by ESPN and 247 Sports.
