Indiana’s recruiting efforts are beginning to bear fruit.

The Hoosiers picked up their second commitment in as many days on Monday afternoon with class of 2018 four-star forward Jerome Hunter.

The 6-foot-7 forward, who plays at Pickerington Central (Ohio) and for Ohio Nova on the AAU circuit, is the No. 60 player nationally according to the 247Composite.

Hunter made his commitment public on Twitter:

Rolling right along. Who’s next? Would love to see Phinisee.

  • Graber28

I’m liking these additions. Way to get em Miller

When it rains it pours.. next up, Mr. Hurt, Romeo, a point guard(which ever wants to be here). Great job, staff

  • iugradmark

Agree. Would love to lock down the point guard position. I like that we are not only getting some good kids, but keeping them from other Big teams. Had Archie offered when he was at Dayton?

    Welcome, Jerome!

Gonna be fun watching you and your teammates develop and win for years to come.

Great job, Coach Miller & Staff. Keep it up.

Wow this is exciting! Welcome to #IUBB Race and Jerome! You can really feel some momentum building for us now.

  • Excellent news! And I’m just fine with picking some of the better Midwest players to go with some Indiana kids. Phinisee next, maybe?

  • AndyCapp

LOVE that we are getting some bigger bodies committing early, will help us land strategic guards as the recruiting process moves forward. Another solid get by the coaches!

  • iugradmark

I’m really hoping we get Phinisee next. I am a bit concerned that he added another school to his top list which tells me that he is pretty undecided. As I said below, I like these kids and I like that we beat out some other BIG schools to get them.

I like this kid, he’s got a smooth looking shot and a lot of length. He’s got some room to fill out too. Go Hoooooosiers!!!!

  • THRyan

And now the dominoes begin to fall! My uneducated guess would be Phinesee, either Carey or Duke, and one more forward (maybe King) will be the 2018 recruiting class. I would take that all day.

  • BannerOrBust

YES!!!!!! Archie is doing work and it’s paying off quickly! HOO-HOO-HOOSIERS!

  • N71

Both Race and Jerome are really good on their own but an added bonus is they won’t end up at another Big Ten school. Impressive 2 day stent for the coaching staff.

  • Given how well these first two recruits went, I’m starting to suspect that Archie and his staff are even better at recruiting — both in planning and execution — than some of us even hoped. They’re plugging in these players very strategically so far, and so I’m just going to sit back and see which PG they pick up. My confidence level is going up dramatically at this point.

  • Kyl470

Two top 100 players in two days. Looking good.

  • Sounds good to me. Maybe leave a spot for a later commit by Romeo, and if not then we’ll have more room in 2019 for Brooks and co.

WOW, My prediction for the class is 2 for 2 so far. Next up, Mr. Phinisee and Mr. Langford.

  • iugradmark

I think these two recruits were kids that we really needed to close on. While the buck stops with the head coach, I think Coach Ostrom likely had a hand in both these recruits. Ostrom was working Minny and Hunter was being recruited by both coaches to Dayton so I think we came into their recruitment with some momentum. Now we wait and see if some of the kids we started a bit later on can be picked off. Hoping for a really good point guard next.

Would love to see Darius Garland but Phinisee would be a great consolation prize.

  • John D Murphy

So the kid from Bloomington goes to Columbus and kid from Columbus goes to Bloomington.

  • iugradmark

    And we sign another…Damezi Anderson

  • HoosierOne

I’ve seen him play a few times now. He’s got great handles, was ally-ooo dunking all over the place, and dropped a lot of threes. He’s a very well versed player and a score from the state of Indiana.

  • Vincent Agramonte

Well that didn’t take long… Welcome Damezi Anderson!

  • Ole Man

When can I do my “I told ya so don’t worry” post?

  • I’d say right about now is appropriate.

  • In all seriousness, I was pretty convinced Archie would recruit well at IU. This start is still impressive to me.

  • Outoftheloop

Get Rob Phinisee now! Then keep working on Garland and Romeo.

  • Ole Man

Geez! What is with you guys.
    Does snatching Anderson count?

  • Ole Man

You were, but you still have some (see below) who still won’t give him credit.

  • Well, sure, and short of winning Romeo we’re going to have that (and someone will complain even then). If anyone can’t recognize how awesome it was to close on those players (and of course, Archie gets credit for putting together a great staff to go along with everything else), then they just don’t get it.
