Class of 2017 signees Justin Smith (15 points) and Al Durham Jr. (10 points) were teammates for the first time over the weekend in the Derby Festival Basketball Classic at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky.

Smith and Durham helped lead Lightning to a 122-109 win over Thunder. Here’s some highlights of both players from the all-star exhibition game:

All-Star game highlights, so only so much to take away- but I’m comfortable concluding that 1) Justin Smith can, in fact, dunk. 2) Durham appears to be comfortable handling the ball and looks to pass first. Let’s hope there is a lot more to come for these two!

JS is a big kid, i think he’s physically ready for cbb.

He’s really well spoken too, in total he somewhat reminds me of Nigel Hayes. I’m extremely impressed so far.

Hope he doesn’t talk about being a starving athlete when on full ride scholarship and a fully funded meal plan

(Sorry I really dislike Nigel Hayes)

Those are the words that Smith used to describe Al’s game … a pass first point guard. It’s a plus that he can get to the rim too.

Aaron Craft sure had a nice career as a defensive minded, pass-first PG. Never could shoot or score, but managed to get along quite well. Not saying AD is the same as, or as good as, Craft, just saying that there is a place even in the B1G for a player with that combination of skills.

I forgot about Al really liking to play defense. That’s a huge plus IMO

Justin Smith looks really nice. I think this is a hugely underrated recruiting class.

My favorite thing about both Durham and Smith is that they have impeccable timing. They know when to pass, shoot, drive, space out the floor, close in, etc. This is a crucial instinct for playing basketball with fluidity that a lot of players neglect for being flashy and explosive.

I know it’s just an All-Star game, but their #1 agenda is teamwork.
