INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana coach Tom Crean was at Lucas Oil Stadium on Thursday night to speak to a gathering of Indiana fans for the athletic department’s “On the Road” tour.

Before speaking to assembled fans, Crean spoke with the media about a variety of issues, including the recent citations for Thomas Bryant and Emmitt Holt, team leadership, the addition of Josh Newkirk, the assistant coach and director of basketball operations positions and more.

Yogi and HMP are both 22. Their season had just ended.

Here are two quotes that our IUBB team needs to read: “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.”
    ? John Wooden
“The true test of a man’s character is what he does when no one is watching.”
    ? John Wooden
This from a great man who happened to be a coach, so sad he went to the other Indiana University ? for those reading this post focus on what he said NOT my
    “other” addition to my post.

  • I agree, it seems like if he was going to get the boot, it probably would’ve happened sooner than this. But, when Crean indicated he wished he would have kicked HMP after that incident, makes me think he may be having second thoughts on how may second chances he’s going to give these guys. If he stays and does something again.. it REALLY looks bad for Crean. I just kind of feel from Crean’s tone about all of these incidents, Holt just may be gone. Not sure if he just wants the emotions to settle down a bit or maybe Holt’s parents are pleading his case or whatever.. but my gut feel was and I guess still is, he’s likely gone. The longer it goes though, I’d say the chances improve that he’s not.

Too tell you the truth it matters none to me whats being said in practice! Devin Davis payed for this kind of conduct this his life! If Crean and Glass cant get this under control they need to go!

LOL you think that makes it a smart move to go to the most recognizable spot in the biggest city around your campus during the biggest event of that city’s calendar year totally obliterated? Trust me man, I’m not that “no fun” guy, it’s about knowing how to do it right.

I used to do this with the gymnasts I coached sometimes. It has pluses and minuses. It isn’t good when a 12 year old you coach gets clobbered by team mates in the locker room for team cohesiveness. You don’t want it to go full metal jacket – it all depends on the kids and the instance. I am sure coach can handle it appropriately.

Knight would just toss them off them team and if it meant a year with no players that’s what it would mean. The message would be loud and clear. Of course Knight wouldn’t even have recruited the thugs in the first place. I blame Crean for lack of discipline, the trophies for everyone mentality and how the “me society” thinks there are no rules we can do as we please.
