LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Future Indiana teammates Robert Johnson and Max Hoetzel are just two hours south of Bloomington this week as participants in the 2014 Derby Festival Basketball Classic, which is Friday night at Freedom Hall.

Inside the Hall was in attendance for the first Derby Festival practice on Wednesday afternoon and caught up with both Johnson and Hoetzel to discuss a variety of topics.

    Most of us are all saying and thinking the same thing: we need one or two big players that can at very least rebound and stand their ground on defense down low. With that addition,we should, “on paper” be really competitive.

    Just getting to come is the big part. I wouldnt mind getting Cunningham even though he’s a SF. But only if we can get a big man. And I’ve only heard a couple names. The Link kid. The kid that decommitted form Cal. And Ja’Keem.

    I know the scholly numbers played a part, but it seems like this need should have been realized much earlier than now. Who knows, maybe we’ll be alright without them.

    I want Link. He may not be very good right now but you dont know what he can be. We dont need him to be a scorer. We just need him to rebound, block shots, and be a presence down low for 10 minutes a game. Plus he has a good name.


    Kids having the chance to learn the finger wag from the master of the finger wag would have to be a plus as well.
