Makes sense. We’re now at Northwestern on Saturday, at Wisconsin on Tuesday, vs. Iowa on Thursday and vs. Ohio State on Sunday. That’s a really tough stretch for a team that is reeling. Here’s to hoping they find it in them to stick together and fight and can finish up this season by with a couple of wins and avoiding a total tailspin.

Unless I’m mis-counting, I think that will be 6 games in 15 days to close out the B1G season. That’s a brutal stretch.

Yeah. I think of Nietzsche’s line What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and dream of a team made better by adversity.

Then I stop and think “Well… it can also figuratively kill them…” and start to worry. Life as a fan is a whole lot of worrying. 🙁

Good points…this season as a whole (this final stretch included) has the potential to be a catapult to really good things. The players and coaches could use the frustrations and disappointment and losses as motivation to work really hard, improve themselves and come back with an edge in 2014/2015. An easy example of this would be the 2012/2013 Hoosiers. Of course, things could get even uglier as the fatigue and losses overwhelms them. The disappointment/frustration doesn’t motivate but just deflates and demoralizes them and they learn little from their mistakes.

How they respond to this bad season will determine whether this is a temporary step back or a long-term down cycle.

And I’m assuming that date is not open for Dickie V so hell yeah! Please let it be true…..

Games Tuesday Thursday Sunday that week could be good or bad. I will look at it as good, which having 3 games in 6 days may not be bad to gear this team up for the Big Ten tourney schedule if we advance in the tournament.

Maybe this extra time was just what this team needed to shake the mental issues t they’ve clearly been dealing with. We can only hope it helped and not hurt.

Darn I don’t have the BTDN, may have to miss that women’s game..

This is what I am looking for. A catapult as you say for next year. I have been critical of the way teams have finished the season under CTC. I want to see some positive steps taken over these last few games. Something to build on for next season. Personally if I see this happen then I can go into the summer thinking yes things will be much improved next season.

Well, I guess the situation of this team does suggest the use of existential philosophy, as it is now time to cease the day and the situation at hand and use it for it can offer. It may prove to be a better road to have NW first after all they gone through. A win will wash away a lot of the past panic and despair. If Nebraska can win five in a row, so can we.

4-2 during this next 6 game stretch, competitive in all 6 will bode well for a decent Big 10 tourney run, hopefully a tournament championship that gets us an automatic NCAA tourney bid. We are 14-11 with 6 regular season games left plus Big 10 tournament. If we can somehow get to 20 wins, can we still make the Dance? As we all know, this team could win them all, or lose them all. It is much more enjoyable to speculate about the positive.

Playing in this many games is such a short period of time will be challenging, obviously. That said, I’m guessing the players would rather play a game on that Thursday than practice, so in that regard, it really isn’t going to make that much of a difference to them. I’m just guessing that Crean will need to go a little deeper into the bench in a few games, which will make some unhappy, but it is just the reality of the situation.

The disadvantage is probably more mental than physical–less time for film, gameplanning, etc. for each game.

Lot of complaints about TC’s subbing (I can’t even call it a “pattern”.) However with this tough schedule…..subbing is going to be critical. Might as well expect some controversy thru the end of the season. As long as our best five players (at any given time)..start the game..finish the first half..and are in the final 5 minutes..considering the score..what goes on in- between should be why TC and staff earn their money.
