HILARIOUS!! I love the part about storing “some clothes, or shoes or something,” in the cabinet under the sink?! Oh my ……….

  • HoosierD

What a humble kid; we need more like him at IU.

  • john

He needs a room mate that knows what she’s doing

  • Jeremy Pinnell

I am sure there would be a few that wouldn’t mind volunteering for that. I have a feeling that he will be very careful finding that roommate the way he was surprised about a $159 vacuum cleaner.

  • Jeremy Pinnell

My wife is already jealous just because of that Dodge Magnum he was driving. He has to love being able to buy just about any car on the lot. He earned that.

  • SCHoosier

Re: the $159 vacuum cleaner and the “Just because I have money doesn’t mean I have to spend a lot of money”..that’s what my dad would have called “Indiana responsible”. It’s in the genes.:)

  • BlakeD1223

    Million dollar home-Na
    Buying your own vacuum-Na
Having your boys crash your pad and live with you-Na
Paying someone to cook and do laundry-Na

Having plenty of money when you retire and being smart with your money-Ooooh Yeah.

  • Ole Man

    That’s a Dodge Charger, I think.
They don’t make the Magnum anymore.

  • gr8iufan

Sure hope he doesn’t let that vacuum get the best of him.
That’s where I always look for my shoes! In the kitchen cabinet! !!

  • Bleeding Crimson

It’s nice that it was Indiana that helped paved the way for his success, not that it was IU that gave him his character but helped strengthen it. The duct tape on the washer/dryer commit I actually LOL. I hope Vic is doing the same responsible things.

Could we as Hoosier fans have wished for any better ambassadors of IU than this fine young man and his partner in pride, Mr. Oladipo ? I strongly think not. Thank you Cody, thank you Vic. Both of your honorable places in the history of IU bball is completely safe and even more so well deserved !

  • MacDaddy

    Amen to that………

  • GAhoosier

This is priceless. I would have expected nothing less from Cody. A testament to his parents and the Hoosier Nation. Wow, I am proud of this young man!

  • GaHoosier

    Also, nice name!

  • Hardwood83

Yep, Cody is going to be just fine.

  • ScoopGeoff

So I’ve had long debates with people before over at The Scoop about the actual importance of a 4 year college education for these 1st rounders… And my point was that their ability to make responsible life and financial decisions once they hit their jackpot has waaaay more to do with how they were raised, family values, and other cultural influences than sticking it out for a couple more years in the classroom.

This goes a long way in proving my point. I too wonder how Vic is handling this situation. He is one of my top 3 favorite Hoosiers of my 30 year fanhood. And I believe he comes from a great family and positive environment, but certainly has much different cultural influences – I’m not just talking black and white, but urban vs rural, immigrant parents vs Midwestern native… so I wonder what the differences may be in the way they are living right now.

  • Frangipani

This makes me so proud to be a Hoosier. It’s ain’t about style, it’s about substance. My new favorite quote: “Just because I make a lot of money doesn’t mean I’m going to spend alot of money”. PRICELESS.

  • HoosierCruz

HAH I can’t count how many times my mother told me, “We have these things called CUPS!”

awesome down to earth family, IU material

  • dingo

too bad he’s so religious. could be PLOWING through the beeotches.

  • colinbb10

man I love that kid. Thank Yah he chose IU

  • Wet Vette

Cody Zeller is a rare breed of a person very humble and respectable which is going to take him places unknown to mankind. He shows what hard work and having great parents is all about along with the fact his College of choice (INDIANA of course) helped pave his way to who he is today. He is not flashy(but could be) he is not over the top on material things (but could be) he is just a great Indiana kid that was brought up to be a respectable productive individual I certainly do hope that the younger generation uses CODY ZELLER as a role model.Cody you make us HOOSIERS proud !!! I feel victor will do the same…god bless you

  • jbim

Good for him that he’s so religious. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his own soul? He will wait and find the one that’s right for him. Mr. Zeller will be just fine.

  • Snookafly

Leave school early to go to the NBA (okay,I can see it).
Go to the NBA to become a millionaire (makes sense).
In a hurry to become a millionaire so you can not spend your money (hmm…
    you lost me).

I understand fiscal responsibility and saving your money especially with the nature of short NBA careers. I just don’t think I’d give up a national title to hang out with my parents in a one-bedroom apartment in Charlotte.

  • dingo

take it easy, fella. I was just joshin’ around. Cody’s da man!

  • Jeremy Pinnell

My bad. It is a charger, but my wife really wants one. She has to deal with her Edge for the moment.
