Source: 2013 forward Troy Williams chooses Indiana
Indiana’s 2013 recruiting class just got a whole lot stronger.
Highly-touted forward Troy Williams will formally announce his commitment to Tom Crean and the Hoosiers Sunday afternoon or evening, a source told Inside the Hall Sunday afternoon.
Williams becomes the fifth member of Indiana’s 2013 recruiting class, joining Stanford Robinson, Luke Fischer, Devin Davis and Collin Hartman.
Williams, a 6-foot-7 forward from Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, is the 32nd-ranked player in the 2013 class, according to ESPN.com. Williams becomes the highest ranked player in the Hoosiers’ class.
He took an official visit to Bloomington last weekend for Hoosier Hysteria and had nothing but good things to say about the experience afterward.
“I didn’t know that their basketball meant that much to them,” Williams told Inside the Hall last Monday. “It was more people than I thought would show up.
“It was fun. It was a great campus and everything. All the people and all the fans were nice, the kids were nice. If I were to decide to go there, the recruits that are going there next year are real cool too.”
Williams had previously visited North Carolina and was expected to take one more visit, but his timeline was accelerated after his trip to Indiana. Williams had narrowed his list to North Carolina and Kentucky earlier this year, but decided to reopen his commitment. Indiana began recruiting him in July.
