Courier-Journal.com: Derek Willis picks Kentucky

The toll of the recruiting process was getting to Bullitt East junior Derek Willis, looking to see what coaches were coming to his games and then having to answer the same questions over and over again.

So, Willis decided he needed to make a decision.

And this time, the 6-foot-9 top-30 prospect nationally in the Class of 2013 said it’s his final decision. Willis, who committed to Purdue last summer only to later back off that commitment, announced on Friday that he committed to the University of Kentucky.

“He’s 100 percent sure,” coach Troy Barr said.

Considered the best college prospect in Kentucky among any class, Willis selected the Wildcats over Purdue, Indiana and Louisville.
