When Indiana takes the court on Thursday night for its final game before Big Ten play, the Hoosiers will be without Derek Elston.

Indiana coach Tom Crean announced today that Elston had minor surgery on Tuesday to repair a fracture in his nose.

The injury was sustained via an inadvertant elbow in practice from sophomore Victor Oladipo.

“Derek Elston’s gonna miss tomorrow, because he had surgery on a fracture in his nose yesterday,” Crean told reporters on Wednesday afternoon. “He sustained it last week and was able to play on it. We decided to get it done yesterday, so he’ll miss tomorrow night, which will give us enough time to get better [before Michigan State].

“We certainly don’t anticipate anything more than just a couple of games with him.”

The junior forward from Tipton, Ind. is averaging 5.9 points and 2.6 rebounds in 13.6 minutes per game.
