IU assistant watches Huntington Prep’s Djimde on Thursday
Indiana assistant coach Tim Buckley was in Huntington, West Virginia on Thursday to watch Ibrahima Djimde, according to Jody Demling of The Courier-Journal.
The 6-9, 230-pound Mali, Africa native recently received his college entrance test score, which is leading to more recruiting interest. He’s a member of the 2011 recruiting class.
Djimde, who goes by the nickname “Ibby,” is rated the No. 53 center nationally by ESPN.com.
Here are some quotes on Djimde from Huntington Prep coach Rob Fulford from an interview conducted by Zach Osterman for Inside the Hall back in February:
“I saw him in the spring, and I didn’t like him. I saw him in the summer and liked him a little, but he still wasn’t ready. Since we saw him in the spring until we got him in August, he was a different player. From Aug. 18 to now, he’s a completely different player.
“He improves every day. He’s a four-year kid that’s gonna work hard. He can defend the four and the five.
“There is some interest there (from Indiana). He plays so hard, he’s one of those kids that, he’s intriguing because of his size and athletic ability, and then he plays hard.”
