Report: Kellan Wyatt, Stephen Daley and Sam Alexis currently eligible after Monroe Circuit Court grants preliminary injunction

IU football players Kellan Wyatt and Stephen Daley, along with IU basketball forward Sam Alexis, are now eligible to compete after a Monroe Circuit Court granted a preliminary injunction on Wednesday.

According to Mike Niziolek of The Bloomington Herald-Times, “Monroe County Circuit Court judge Kara E. Krothe has granted a preliminary injunction in the lawsuit Stephen Daley, Kellan Wyatt filed against the NCAA, they along with the other student-athletes in the case are now eligible for competition, per court records.”

The injunction makes Daley and Wyatt eligible to play in Friday’s Big Ten opener against Northwestern at Memorial Stadium.

Daley and Wyatt played in IU football’s first two games but missed Saturday’s game against Western Kentucky while they awaited a ruling from the court after a temporary restraining order expired.

A total of 97 athletes are involved in the case.

The 6-foot-1, 273-pound Daley played in 13 games for IU last season, including six starts. He transferred to IU from Kent State before the 2025 season.

An All-Big Ten honorable mention selection last season, Daley led the Hoosiers with 19 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.

He missed the College Football Playoff after suffering an injury during the celebration following the Big Ten championship game win against Ohio State at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The 6-foot-2, 257-pound Wyatt started seven games for IU last season before missing the final nine games of the season following an injury he sustained against Michigan State.

He transferred to IU from Maryland before the 2025 season.

Wyatt had 12 solo tackles, eight tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks in the 2025 season. He was IU’s fifth-leading tackler overall with 27 at the time of his injury.

Alexis, who is currently working out with IU basketball in Bloomington, averaged 8.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 blocked shots and 1.2 assists in 21.3 minutes per game last season for the Hoosiers.
