IU football falls to No. 5 in AP poll, remains No. 4 in coaches’ poll after WKU win

IU football fell one spot in the Associated Press top 25 poll following its Week 3 win against Western Kentucky.

The Hoosiers, who received four No. 1 votes this week, are No. 5 in the AP poll released Sunday afternoon.

In the USLBM coaches’ top 25 poll, which was also released Sunday afternoon, Indiana remained No. 4. The Hoosiers received nine No. 1 votes in the coaches’ poll.

Indiana beat Western Kentucky 38-0 on Saturday at Memorial Stadium, its second straight shutout.

The Hoosiers beat North Texas 52-16 in Week 1 and Howard 55-0 in Week 2. Indiana begins Big Ten play Friday night against Northwestern in Bloomington.

The four teams ahead of IU in the AP poll are No. 1 Texas, No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 4 Ole Miss, which jumped four spots after beating LSU on Saturday night.

In the coaches’ poll, the Hoosiers are behind No. 1 Texas, No. 2 Georgia and No. 3 Notre Dame and Miami (FL) is No. 5.

Among the Big Ten teams in the AP poll, Ohio State is No. 7, USC is No. 12, Penn State is No. 13, Iowa is No. 17, Michigan is No. 18 and Oregon is No. 20. Washington, UCLA and Nebraska received votes.

In the coaches’ poll, the Buckeyes are No. 7, USC is No. 12, Penn State is No. 14, Oregon is No. 16, Iowa is No. 17, Michigan is No. 18 and Washington is No. 23. UCLA, Nebraska and Northwestern received votes.
