IU basketball to play an exhibition against Butler at Hinkle Fieldhouse on October 11

IU basketball will play an exhibition game against Butler at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Sunday, October 11, it was announced this morning.

As part of the agreement, Butler will play an exhibition in 2027 against Indiana at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

A tip time and broadcast information will be announced at a later date, along with ticket information.

Indiana leads the all-time series against Butler 40-15 and last played the Bulldogs in the Crossroads Classic on December 19, 2020, at Bankers Life Fieldhouse (now Gainbridge Fieldhouse).

It will be IU’s first trip to Hinkle Fieldhouse since the season opener in 1993. The Hoosiers lost the season opener, 75-71, to Butler on November 27, 1993.

The exhibition game against Butler is the third confirmed exhibition game for the 2026-27 schedule.

Indiana will play North Carolina at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Sunday, October 18 and Western Kentucky at the Ford Center in Evansville on Sunday, October 25.

Butler, a member of the Big East, finished last season with a 16-16 record under Thad Matta, who retired last spring.

The Bulldogs hired Ronald Nored to replace Matta and are ranked No. 90 in Bart Torvik’s projections for the 2026-27 season.

Other known dates for IU’s 2026-27 schedule include Eastern Illinois on November 2 at Assembly Hall, Bellarmine on November 5 at Assembly Hall, Syracuse on November 9 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Arkansas on November 17 at Madison Square Garden, Kentucky on November 20 at Lucas Oil Stadium, Bowling Green on November 27 at Assembly Hall and Missouri on December 18 at Assembly Hall.
