Introducing Zach Horwitz

Editor’s note: We’re excited to announce that we’ve hired a new writer, Zach Horwitz, to the Inside the Hall staff. Zach is a senior at Indiana University at the Media School. His work will begin appearing on Inside the Hall this month.

My name is Zach Horwitz and I’m excited to join Inside the Hall as a writer covering Indiana’s football and basketball programs.

I’m originally from South Florida, where sports have been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was surrounded by a passionate sports culture and college athletics quickly became my biggest interest. Whether it was watching games, reading coverage, listening to broadcasts or eventually creating my own content, sports were always at the center of what I wanted to do.

When it came time to choose a school, I knew I wanted something different. I went to a high school with more than 5,000 students and I wanted to leave the state, get a fresh start and go somewhere where I knew nobody. Indiana became the perfect fit. The sports media program was a major draw and I always wanted to attend a school with big-time athletics and a passionate fan base.

Since arriving in Bloomington, I’ve been fortunate to gain experience covering IU athletics in a variety of ways. I’ve worked with iubase.com for the past three years, covering Indiana baseball through written work and over social media. This past year, I also worked with The Hoosier Network on the Indiana men’s basketball beat. That experience gave me the opportunity to write, create video content and travel to some of the best venues in the country.

Outside of school, I spent time on WQAM sports radio in Miami, a station with a long history and a home to some broadcasting greats. I’m also currently working with the Orange Bowl Committee as a Marketing and Communications intern, continuing to build experience in the sports industry from multiple angles.

Now, I’m excited to get started with Inside the Hall. Indiana basketball has one of the richest traditions in the sport, and I’m looking forward to helping build on that coverage. I’m also excited to contribute to the growth of Indiana football coverage as the program continues to build momentum.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to join a site with such a strong reputation and passionate audience. I can’t wait to get to work and continue telling stories around Indiana athletics.
