IU basketball led the Big Ten in average attendance for a fourth straight season

IU men’s basketball led the Big Ten in average attendance for a fourth straight season.

The Hoosiers averaged 15,677 fans per game over 18 contests in the 2025-26 season at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The average attendance was down from 16,477 per game during the 2024-25 season, a 4.8 percent decrease.

Indiana ranked ninth nationally in average attendance behind Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, BYU, Syracuse, Creighton and North Carolina State.

Indiana ranked sixth in the country in cumulative attendance, with 282,193, down from 296,046 in the 2024-25 season. The five programs ahead of the Hoosiers were Kentucky, North Carolina, Arkansas, Tennessee and Syracuse.

The last time the Hoosiers did not lead the Big Ten in attendance was the 2021-22 season. Wisconsin led the league that season with an average of 16,505 fans per game and Indiana was second with 15,845 fans per game.

Dating back to the 1971-72 season, IU has finished in the top 10 nationally in attendance 42 times and led the Big Ten 26 times. The Hoosiers led the nation in attendance during the 1975-76 season, averaging 16,892 fans per game.

The highest average attendance for IU men’s basketball in a season was the 2012-13 campaign. The Hoosiers averaged 17,412 fans per game that season, the most in the country.

On the women’s side, the IU women’s program averaged 7,866 fans per game, which ranked ninth nationally. In the 2023-24 season, the IU women averaged 10,828 fans per game.
