IU basketball transfer portal player profile: South Alabama wing Adam Olsen
Indiana’s 2026-27 roster will be rebuilt this spring by second-year coach Darian DeVries, who will navigate the portal with executive director of basketball Ryan Carr and the Hoosier coaching staff.
Inside the Hall will examine some of the prospects who could make sense for the Hoosiers to pursue out of the portal. Up next: South Alabama wing Adam Olsen.

Olsen has one season of eligibility remaining.
Background and potential fit
A native of Surrey, B.C., Canada, Adam Olsen is a 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward with one year of Division I experience.
Olsen attended Elgin Park Secondary School before attending the University of British Columbia for two seasons.
In his first season at the University of British Columbia, the 2023-24 campaign, Olsen started three games, averaging 10.2 points and connecting on 47 3-pointers over 25 appearances. He shot 41.9 percent overall from the field and 37.9 percent on 3-pointers.
His second season at the University of British Columbia was a breakout campaign, as he averaged 15 points, 3.9 rebounds and two assists and made 71 3-pointers as his team finished with a 31-8 record. It was that production – he scored 20 or more points seven times – that made Olsen an attractive option for Division programs ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Olsen signed with South Alabama in April of 2025 and was an instant impact player in the Sun Belt Conference. He started all 31 games last season at South Alabama and averaged 16.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, one steal and 0.9 assists in 35.8 minutes per game. He made a program-record 102 3-pointers, connecting at a 39.5 percent clip from distance. Of his 393 field goal attempts, 258 were 3-pointers.
The sharpshooter scored in double figures on 24 occasions, including 15 games with 20 or more points. He had seven games in which he made at least five 3-pointers, including seven against Arkansas State on February 14 and eight against Louisiana-Monroe on February 25.
Anonymous college basketball insider Trilly Donovan recently mentioned Indiana as a school to monitor as Olsen works through the transfer portal process.
The appeal with Olsen is his size and shooting ability on the wing. He’s productive in catch-and-shoot situations and the Hoosiers have plenty of perimeter shooting to replace following the graduations of Lamar Wilkerson and Tucker DeVries. Ideally, if Olsen does move up to the high-major level, his role would be as a shooting specialist off the bench.
