IU basketball junior guard Jason Drake plans to enter the transfer portal

Indiana junior guard Jason Drake plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens on Tuesday, April 7.

Dushawn London of 247Sports reported the news of Drake’s plan to enter the portal.

Drake, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound guard from Oak Park, Michigan, did not play for the Hoosiers this season due to a foot injury.

Drake committed to the Hoosiers on April 22 as a transfer from Drexel University.

Drake started all 33 games in the 2024-25 season at Drexel and averaged 11.1 points, 3.1 assists and three rebounds in 26.1 minutes per game.

He chose IU over interest from St. John’s, Pittsburgh, St. Joseph’s, Temple, UCF, Duquesne, Indiana State, Dayton, Youngstown State, New Mexico State, UCSB, South Florida and Western Kentucky.

Prior to Drexel, Drake spent the 2023-24 season at Butler Community College in Kansas. He averaged 9.6 points, 3.7 assists and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 42 percent on 3s.

As a true freshman at Cleveland State in the 2023-23 season, Drake averaged 1.6 points in 5.6 minutes per game.

Drake will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
