Through two weeks of the 2025-26 men’s basketball season, IU basketball is the Big Ten’s biggest riser in KenPom and Bart Torvik.

Both computer rankings are used by the NCAA tournament selection committee in its process of building the March Madness bracket.

Here’s a quick look at each Big Ten program and its latest KenPom and Torvik rankings as of Tuesday, compared to the start of the season: (Teams listed in order of current ranking on KenPom.)

Purdue

Preseason KenPom: 3
Current KenPom: 5
Preseason Torvik: 5
Current Torvik: 8

Notes: The Boilermakers are 4-0, but a closer-than-expected win against Oakland at home is the reason for the slight dip in both rankings through two weeks.

Illinois

Preseason KenPom: 6
Current KenPom: 6
Preseason Torvik: 8
Current Torvik: 3

Notes: The Fighting Illini are 4-0 – and all four contests have been at home – and three of their four wins have been blowouts. Illinois also has a marquee home win against Texas Tech.

Michigan

Preseason KenPom: 11
Current KenPom: 14
Preseason Torvik: 3
Current Torvik: 4

Notes: Michigan is 3-0 but had to go to overtime to beat Wake Forest on a neutral court and then won by four at TCU, which already has a home loss to New Orleans.

Wisconsin

Preseason KenPom: 20
Current KenPom: 17
Preseason Torvik: 30
Current Torvik: 27

Notes: The Badgers have cruised through their first four games, with three of their wins by 25 or more points. All four games have been at home against mid or low-major programs.

USC

Preseason KenPom: 22
Current KenPom: 19
Preseason Torvik: 26
Current Torvik: 22

Notes: The Trojans are 3-0 with wins by 30, 31 and 20 points against overmatched competition. The result? A minor move up in the computers.

Indiana

Preseason KenPom: 40
Current KenPom: 21
Preseason Torvik: 41
Current Torvik: 26

Notes: The Hoosiers are up 19 spots in KenPom and 15 spots in Torvik, making them the biggest riser so far in the Big Ten. Three of IU’s four wins have been blowouts, including a neutral court victory against Marquette.

UCLA

Preseason KenPom: 10
Current KenPom: 31
Preseason Torvik: 9
Current Torvik: 20

Notes: The Bruins are 3-1 with a neutral court loss to Arizona, but have fallen because they only beat Eastern Washington by six and Pepperdine by 11 in their first two games.

Michigan State

Preseason KenPom: 25
Current KenPom: 32
Preseason Torvik: 21
Current Torvik: 23

Notes: Michigan State is 3-0 and ranked No. 17 in the latest Associated Press top 25 poll. We’ll learn even more about the Spartans tonight when they face Kentucky in the Champions Classic.

Ohio State

Preseason KenPom: 27
Current KenPom: 36
Preseason Torvik: 16
Current Torvik: 24

Notes: Allowing 102 points to IU Indy in the season opener wasn’t helpful for the Buckeyes in the computers, nor was a one-point win at home against Notre Dame. Still, Ohio State is finding ways to win and is 4-0.

Iowa

Preseason KenPom: 46
Current KenPom: 37
Preseason Torvik: 37
Current Torvik: 34

Notes: The new-look Hawkeyes have rolled through their first three games with wins against Robert Morris, Western Illinois and Xavier by an average of 23.3 points.

Nebraska

Preseason KenPom: 51
Current KenPom: 41
Preseason Torvik: 43
Current Torvik: 40

Notes: Believe it or not, Nebraska has the nation’s longest active win streak at eight games. The Huskers won their first three home games by an average of 27.3 points and then beat Oklahoma on a neutral court.

Northwestern

Preseason KenPom: 57
Current KenPom: 44
Preseason Torvik: 66
Current Torvik: 55

Notes: The second biggest early season riser in the conference, Northwestern crushed Mercyhurst, Boston University and Cleveland State at home before winning at DePaul. Up next: Neutral court games against Virginia and South Carolina that should teach us more about the Wildcats.

Washington

Preseason KenPom: 45
Current KenPom: 47
Preseason Torvik: 46
Current Torvik: 49

Notes: The Huskies are 3-1 with a road loss by nine at Baylor on Nov. 9.

Maryland

Preseason KenPom: 34
Current KenPom: 50
Preseason Torvik: 42
Current Torvik: 50

Notes: Maryland fell all the way to No. 60 after its first three games, which included a home loss to Georgetown, but gained some ground by beating Marquette by seven in Milwaukee last weekend.

Oregon

Preseason KenPom: 37
Current KenPom: 56
Preseason Torvik: 27
Current Torvik: 37

Notes: It’s been an unimpressive start to the season for the Ducks, who won their first two games against Hawaii and Rice by a combined five points. However, Dana Altman’s group is 4-0.

Penn State

Preseason KenPom: 95
Current KenPom: 82
Preseason Torvik: 101
Current Torvik: 94

Notes: The Nittany Lions are 4-0 with a pair of home wins against Fairfield and Navy, a road win at New Haven and a neutral court win against La Salle.

Minnesota

Preseason KenPom: 73
Current KenPom: 91
Preseason Torvik: 77
Current Torvik: 85

Notes: The Gophers were up to No. 64 in KenPom after two games, but then lost by 23 at Missouri and needed overtime to beat Green Bay at home.

Rutgers

Preseason KenPom: 85
Current KenPom: 93
Preseason Torvik: 97
Current Torvik: 97

Notes: Rutgers is 3-0 with three easy wins, but won’t play an opponent ranked higher than 282 in KenPom until the Tennessee game in Las Vegas on Nov. 24.
