IU basketball led the Big Ten in average attendance for a third straight season

IU men’s basketball led the Big Ten in average attendance for a third straight season.

The Hoosiers averaged 16,447 fans per game over 18 contests in the 2024-25 season at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The attendance figure was slightly down from the 2023-24 season, when Indiana averaged 16,468 fans per game.

Indiana ranked eighth nationally in average attendance behind North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Syracuse, Creighton and BYU.

Indiana ranked sixth in the country in accumulative attendance, with 296,046. The five programs ahead were Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee, Syracuse and North Carolina.

The last time the Hoosiers did not lead the Big Ten in attendance was the 2021-22 season. Wisconsin led the league that season with an average of 16,505 fans per game and Indiana was second at 15,845 per game.

Dating back to the 1971-72 season, IU has finished in the top 10 nationally in attendance 41 times and led the Big Ten 25 times. The Hoosiers led the nation in attendance during the 1975-76 season with an average of 16,892 fans per game.

The highest average attendance for IU men’s basketball in a season was the 2012-13 campaign. The Hoosiers averaged 17,412 fans per game that season, which led the country.

On the women’s side, the IU women’s program averaged 10,828 fans per game, which ranked fourth nationally behind South Carolina, Iowa and UConn.
