IU basketball sophomore forward Josh Harris plans to enter the transfer portal

Indiana sophomore forward Josh Harris plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens on Tuesday, April 7.

Travis Branham was the first to report news of Harris’s plans to enter the portal.

He is the third IU player to declare his intent to enter the portal, joining guard Jason Drake and wing Jasai Miles.

Harris, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward from Pembroke Pines, Florida, did not play for the Hoosiers in the 2025-26 season due to a foot injury.

He committed to the Hoosiers on April 28, 2025, as a transfer from North Florida University.

As a freshman at North Florida, he started all 30 games for the Ospreys and was named to the All-ASUN freshman team.

Harris averaged 13.4 points and 7.1 rebounds in 22.5 minutes per game and shot 57.7 percent on 2s, 32.2 percent on 3s and 67.1 percent from the free-throw line.

In IU’s early August trip to Puerto Rico for three exhibition games, Harris appeared in two games and averaged 6.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and a turnover in 8.6 minutes per game.

He was expected to provide frontcourt depth behind Reed Bailey and Sam Alexis but never played due to his foot injury.

Harris will have three seasons of eligibility remaining if he uses a medical redshirt.
