Four-star forward Trevor Manhertz commits to IU basketball
IU basketball added its fourth high school commitment of the Darian DeVries era with a pledge from four-star wing Trevor Manhertz on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-8 Manhertz, currently a member of the 2027 class, will move into the 2026 class and enroll in Bloomington for the 2026-27 season.
“After thoughtful consideration and with the support of my family, I would like to announce that I will be re-classifying into 2026 and committing to Indiana University. Go Hoosiers,” Manhertz wrote on social media.
Manhertz was originally a 2026 prospect but moved to 2027 last summer to develop his body and strength.
But after breaking out in front of college coaches and catching the eye of high-major programs, schools began to pursue Manhertz with the intent to bring him on campus as a 2026 prospect.
Manhertz joins Prince-Alexander Moody and Vaughn Karvala as the third recruit for DeVries and the IU coaching staff in the 2026 class. The Hoosiers also hold a commitment from class of 2027 guard Chase Branham.

Manhertz, a lefty, also considered Duke and Louisville. The Hoosiers were the first of the three schools to host him for an official visit before his decision.
He plays at the Christ School in Cary, North Carolina, and played for Garner Road on the adidas circuit.
Manhertz is considered a four-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Here are some brief scouting notes on Manhertz from Eric Bossi from last August:
“Don’t be surprised if Manhertz sees his recruitment blow up over the course of the next year. The slender wing from North Carolina didn’t shoot it from deep quite as well as we’ve seen him in the past, but it was still quite obvious that he’s got a major weapon in his jumper. Add in that he’s a fluid mover who still has lots of physical maturing to do and this is a story we’ve seen play out many times in the past. Book him as a high major wing who is more than likely going to find his way into the national rankings before he graduates.”
