IU football rises in AP poll, coaches poll as top 10 teams fall in week six
Despite being idle in week six, IU football rose in the national polls released Sunday afternoon.
In the latest Associated Press top 25 poll, released at 2 p.m. ET, the Hoosiers rose one spot from No. 8 to No. 7.
The Hoosiers were No. 20 in the first Associated Press top 25 poll of the season and cracked the top 10 last weekend following a win against Iowa at Kinnick Stadium.
Penn State fell all the way out of the top 25 poll after its shocking loss at UCLA. The Nittany Lions were No. 7 last week.
The six teams ahead of IU in the AP poll are Ohio State, Miami (FL), Oregon, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Oklahoma. Michigan is ranked 15th and Illinois is 17th.
Penn State, Nebraska, USC and Washington all received votes in the AP poll.
In the latest US LBM coaches top 25 poll, the Hoosiers moved up two spots from No. 9 to No. 7.
Penn State fell from No. 6 to No. 22 in the coaches poll. Texas fell from No. 7 to No. 19 following its loss at Florida.
The six teams ahead of IU in the coaches poll are Ohio State, Oregon, Miami (FL), Ole Miss and Texas A&M.
Other Big Ten teams ranked in the top 25 of the coaches poll include No. 15 Michigan and No. 17 Illinois.
Washington, USC, Nebraska and Iowa all received votes.
Indiana travels to Eugene on Saturday to take on Oregon at Autzen Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
