IU basketball shows off 3-point shooting in shortened Cream and Crimson scrimmage
Friday night’s Cream and Crimson scrimmage at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall offered a first glimpse for IU basketball fans at a revamped 2025-26 roster.
In a shorter-than-planned scrimmage, 3-point shooting and ball movement were themes in just under 19 minutes of game action for a roster dealing with injuries.
The scrimmage, originally planned for four 10-minute quarters, featured a 10-minute quarter to start, followed by two four-minute quarters.
The final quarter was cut short after Jasai Miles left with a leg injury. After spending some time with the athletic training staff, Miles walked gingerly from the bench to the IU locker room.
Following the scrimmage, Darian DeVries and the players greeted fans and posed for pictures on Branch McCracken Court.
Indiana had just 11 healthy players available Friday night, which included a pair of walk-ons.
The Hoosiers are currently without Jason Drake, Aleksa Ristic, Josh Harris and Nick Dorn, four of their 13 scholarship players. Dorn’s return appears the closest of the group as he works his way back from offseason surgery to repair a Jones fracture in his foot.
In the opening quarter, the Crimson team knocked down seven of its nine 3-point attempts to win comfortably, 30-11.
The Crimson roster featured Reed Bailey, Lamar Wilkerson, Conor Enright, Tayton Conerway, Trent Sisley and Tucker DeVries. Sisley began the opening quarter on the Cream team, but moved to the Crimson near the midway point of the quarter.
The Cream roster consisted of Jasai Miles, Sam Alexis, Andrej Acimovic, Tryce Grensing and Ian Stephens. Alexis began the period on the Crimson roster, but moved to Cream.
The Crimson team shot 7-for-9 on 3s in the opening frame, including a 3-for-4 performance from Wilkerson. DeVries was 2-for-3 on triples, Conerway hit his only 3-point attempt and Sisley made both of his long-distance looks in the first quarter.
Wilkerson and DeVries both had eight points in the opening quarter, Sisley had six points, while Bailey and Conerway had four points each.
In the second period, which saw Bailey go to the Crimson in a swap for Alexis, the Cream prevailed, 9-4.
Bailey led all scorers in the four-minute frame with five points to go along with three rebounds. Miles added four points and three rebounds.
From the Crimson, Enright and Alexis each had two points.
The third period saw Wilkerson move to the Cream roster and Bailey shift back to Crimson. While Crimson prevailed, 9-6, Wilkerson knocked in a pair of 3-pointers.
Alexis led the Cream roster with six points and Conerway added three points from his second 3-pointer of the evening.
There were no scoring stats from the fourth quarter as it ended shortly after it began due to the injury to Miles.
Overall, the Hoosiers shot 10-for-26 on 3-pointers on the evening.
Final combined player point totals, which are unofficial, are available below:
Reed Bailey – nine points
Lamar Wilkerson – 14 points
Tayton Conerway – seven points
Trent Sisley – six points
Conor Enright – two points
Tucker DeVries – eight points
Sam Alexis – 14 points
Ian Stephens – five points
