IU women’s basketball earned a commitment from class of 2026 guard GiGi Battle on Wednesday afternoon.

Battle announced her commitment to the Hoosiers on her Instagram account.

The 6-foot Battle is rated as a four-star prospect by ESPN.com and a top 40 player nationally by the 247Sports Composite rankings. She attends DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Florida.

A native of Edison, New Jersey, the four-star prospect is the younger sister of Khalif and Tyus Battle, who both played high-major Division I basketball.

Battle joins Addison Nyemchek, Ashlinn James and Zoe Jackson in IU’s 2026 recruiting class.

She chose the Hoosiers over Georgia, Iowa, North Carolina State and Georgia Tech, among others.

Here is a brief scouting report on Battle from Brandon Clay of 247Sports.com:

“Battle had a phenomenal summer elevating into the Top 40 discussion nationally as a result. She was named Second Team All-3SSB Circuit because of her play with Central Florida Elite. Battle is a strong-framed wing capable of being effective on either end of the hardwood. She averaged 15.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Battle was one of the most efficient players on the Circuit this season as well. Battle shot 46 percent from the field, 77 percent from the FT line and 36 percent from beyond the arc. She has two older brothers, Khalif and Tyus, who were Power 4 level recruits as well.”
