Darian DeVries provides IU basketball injury updates in Field of 68 interview

  • 1h ago

The Field of 68 was live today in Bloomington following an IU practice and first-year coach Darian DeVries provided a few injury updates in an interview with Jeff Goodman and Rob Dauster.

Here’s what DeVries had to say on several players who have missed time:

Nick Dorn: “He’s getting closer and closer. We’re continuing to ramp him up a little bit. It’s still going to be a little while before we get into some of those live, 5-on-5 situations. But he’s making progress, so that’s a good thing.

“He had one (a Jones fracture) last year and they had to actually go back in and redo it. He looks great. You watch him running right now and he looks like he could be a middle linebacker somewhere. He should be playing on Saturday this weekend. This is the first time I’ve gotten to see him run in person because he’s been in the boot a lot.”

Jasai Miles and Jason Drake: “They should both be back. Jasai sooner than later and Deuce (Jason Drake) will still be a little while yet. He’s probably got another month or so before he starts getting into things.”

Dauster commented that Miles is dealing with a shoulder injury and Drake is recovering from a toe injury.

Miles participated in the Puerto Rico exhibition games while Dorn and Drake sat out.
