IU basketball’s Aleksa Ristic scores 12 points to help Serbia advance to FIBA U20 Eurobasket semifinals
Incoming IU basketball guard Aleksa Ristic scored 12 points to help Serbia advance to the FIBA U20 Eurobasket semifinals on Thursday in Heraklion, Greece.
Ristic, a 6-foot-4 guard, shot just 2-for-12 from the field, but was 6-for-6 from the free-throw line in Serbia’s come-from-behind 76-66 win against Spain in the quarterfinals.
He logged a team-high 36 minutes and also dished out five assists.
The win advanced Serbia into Saturday’s semifinals against Italy. All games in the FIBA U20 Eurobasket are broadcast live on YouTube.
Serbia remains unbeaten at 5-0 in the FIBA U20 Eurobasket.
Ristic, who committed to the Hoosiers last month, will join IU after the event concludes. By advancing to the semifinals, Serbia will now wrap up play on Sunday in Greece in either the championship or third-place game.
