Quick thoughts on a 70-53 win over South Florida:

How it happened: Things were interesting inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall for a half on Sunday evening. Turnovers plagued Indiana in the first 20 minutes and Payton Banks, a graduate transfer, torched the Hoosiers for 15 points. The Bulls, picked to finish last in the American Athletic Conference, led 34-33 at halftime. Indiana’s nine first half turnovers prevented the Hoosiers from getting things going offensively. But Indiana emerged from their locker room a different team after the break. The Hoosiers, led by some aggressive play early in the half by Juwan Morgan, opened a six-point lead midway through second half. From there, Indiana played one of its best stretches of basketball to date and won going away.

Standout performers: Morgan was the spark that got Indiana going in the second half. The junior forward finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in 27 minutes. Robert Johnson had 21 points and hit all three of his 3-point attempts. And freshman Al Durham came off the bench to finish with nine points, five rebounds, four assists and no turnovers in 31 minutes.

Statistic that stands out: After turning it over nine times in the first half, Indiana had just three turnovers in the second half.
