Bruce Brown will visit Indiana this weekend

One of Indiana’s top recruiting targets for the class of 2016 will be on campus this weekend for homecoming.

Vermont Academy guard Bruce Brown will be in Bloomington beginning today for his official visit.

The 6-foot-3 guard, rated the No. 40 prospect nationally by the 247Composite, is also considering UMass, Purdue and Miami (FL).

Brown is considered one of the most versatile guards in the 2016 because of his ability to score off the dribble and also defend at a very high level.

“It’s not all about scoring with me,” Brown told Inside the Hall in July at the Nike Peach Jam in North Augusta, South Carolina. “I like getting steals, rebounding, anything my team needs me to do.”

Brown averaged 15.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, two steals, 1.8 assists and 1.4 blocks per game at the Peach Jam for the Boston Amateur Basketball Club (BABC).

Indiana has prioritized Brown as a key piece of its 2016 recruiting efforts and going back to the last spring, the message has been resonating.

“It’s Indiana, what is there not to like?” he told Inside the Hall last April. “Big name school, always playing on TV. They are just a good program.”

The Hoosiers have a pair of commitments for the 2016 class in Crown Point’s Grant Gelon and Huntington Prep’s Curtis Jones and will also add Pittsburgh transfer Josh Newkirk next season.
