Before it gets to the chorus, mute the video

  • IUfanPurduePhD

With BeeJay and Hanner, we would lead the nations in put-back dunks in 2013.

  • Aceman_Mujezinovic_07

Man, his wingspan is unbelievable!  He wouldn’t have to jump to dunk.

I think guys like this will be even better and more efficient at IU if that’s what they choose because of PG’s like Yogi and others considering IU.  People don’t always realize how much better a talented PG makes a big.  Yogi is that type player.

  • Tomgerber

Nice look at BeeJay.  I think there was only one or two jump shots taken in the video.  I would have liked to have seen more.  But he certainly can dunk and block!

  • scott

    WOW!

  • 11th and Done (Dunn)

My Lord, that is an enforcer.

  • Evansville Hoosier

Holy crap, this dude can dunk from ANYWHERE. Might be just the type of player to be the contrast to Luke in the post. He’d be a great pickup.

  • btowncain

Doesn’t fit our system? Think again boys, he fits any system. He’s a wide load, beep beep beep. Lol I know his stats aren’t that eye popping but he’s highly ranked by the “know it all” recruiting sites and he is a B1G type player. He’s a more physical but less athletic Sullinger. I think him and Robinson with the rest of the class in ’13 will have some very solid players. Why can’t college basketball be 24/7 365 days a weeks.

  • unrealhoosier

All I know is if we don’t sign him i’m going to weep.  I can’t remember the last time IU had some massive guy in the paint to secure it.  Sure we have had tall guys, but no guy this bulky.

  • Kenneth234

I have seen on many other threads on ITH people talking about how IU should just stop recruiting him, stating he is “over rated”, or “he is not active”;  I call b.s. on those who think that his lack of numbers in AAU is more relevant than game clips.  The guy would be a perfect fit for Big Ten play, and is something that IU teams really need.  He is the enforcer type of big man that perfectly complements a good perimeter attack and more finesse type big men that IU typically has.  I am hoping that K. Johnson’s hire helps bring him in just as much as his AAU teammate Robinson.  We don’t need two or three guys with his abilities ala Michigan St., but it would be great help to have one.

  • IU

Who do we ask to leave so he can come aboard?

  • MillaRed

He’s a slashers best friend. Cleaning up the misses. Moves very, very well for a kid his age/size. Great timing on the blocks.

    I’m all in.

  • MillaRed

Has anyone else noticed how much CTC is pushing religion on Twitter? I mean, he is getting heavier all the time. Needs to reel that in a little.

  • Joe B

Wow.  This kid is an absolute force.  Has a body similar to Sullinger with a greater wingspan.  I think conditioning will be the only thing that could potentially stop this kid from being a star at the college ranks.  But, if he can get in great shape, watch out.

  • Evansville Hoosier

I think Crean might know something the rest of us don’t… Like maybe he plans to tell Hartman a spot is no longer available, or maybe Hartman is planning to decommit. I’m curious, to say the least. Why else would we be recruiting Semi Ojeleye?

Ideal class: Morris, Robinson, Ojeleye, Lee, Anya.

That’s not to say I dislike Hartman, Davis or Fischer, I’d love for them to come. But those would be my ideal 5.

Well, though I may not necessarily agree, we do live in the bible belt, and his wife said it’s made him a much happier person. So I guess if it’s helping him, I’m alright with it.

How quickly we forget Kyle Taber.

  • IUfanPurduePhD

Well, at least he’s not promoting himself or a “non-traditional program” *cough cough*

I don’t see any reason to speculate on people decommitting.

To me our recruiting class is Davis, Fischer, and Hartman.  I’m cool with others jumping on board but I’m excited to see the guys who have committed in an IU uniform.

  • HOOSIER KEN

It does not hurt to have the man up top on your side.

  • HOOSIER KEN

BeeJay is the real deal, soft hands, eye for the ball, shot blocker, active, strong, total package, plays like he is in college now, would love to see him wear IU on his sleeve.

  • HoosiersBB

His upside makes me think Zach Randolph, but with defense.  Victor and Mo will be key in this recruitment.

  • slojoe

BeeJay offensively is perfect for the dribble-drive.  The center in that offense sets up on the weak side and essentially gets dumps and putbacks.  Of course, defensively he’s great for any defense.

  • WisconHoosier

He might be able to dunk free throws.

  • Kevin

How about DeAndre Thomas? Now that guy was bulky

  • SCHoosier

Have to say this kid has more hop than I tought..a good quick first step and soft hands. Good defensive timing and seemed to run the floor well. Guess Crean knows what he’s doing making Anya the top target in 2013 class. Didn’t show much facing the basket..but he is gonna take up a lot of room and bang the boards for somebody..personally I hope its IU.

  • SCHoosier

Withdrawing an offer to an Indiana kid as this conjuncture might destroy much of the progress Crean has made in state. Sure ..he probably wishes he had a couple of offers “back”…but to take one away..I don’t think so.

  • HoosierFanaticFromUSI

I really like this guy. A banger like that is always good to have in the B1G against teams like MSU.

If Zeller stays another year, and Anya commits is this the best frontcourt in the nation in 2013?

  • calbert40

Well, he is a fairly prolific tweeter! He has tweeted 12 times today, and 4 of them are about religion. All of those were quotes from well known pastors/speakers. Before today, no religious tweets since last week. I don’t think that type of ratio is heavy.

I guess I don’t see the issue with a religious man posting about something that he says has changed his life.

  • calbert40

Zeller, Perea, Jurkin, Fischer, Anya?  I think it would be difficult to find a deeper or more talented group than that.  I don’t think that will happen, but it looks really nice on paper.

    BINGO!!

I’ve read on ITH a few times about people not getting the hype w/ Beejay.  I think this kid is a solid PG away from being a monster.  Let’s face it AAU is for guards and wings to showcase, so I keep looking at his size and keep thinking about a Yogi dropping off passes and BOOM!

The ‘soft hands’ stuck out to me the most. That is impressive for any big man, but especially as powerfully built one. Seems you can improve a lot of skills but having good hands isn’t one of them.

  • HoosierDadE

Would that non traditional program be located in the state South of Indiana aka NBA Jr University aka Used Carsalesman U aka World Wide Wes University aka Me Dunk Ball Good I Go Here Univeristy aka

    I could go all day

  • Tolly1

Recruiting never stops? Im not sure he wishes he has offers back. He is offering a lot of schollys everywhere. He wants players that want to come to IU. So if someone doesnt accept right away he just keeps laying them out there.

  • The_Real_Assembly_Hall

Sounds like you think you are in the know.  All I can say is that I hope you are wrong.  I am not trying be rude in saying this to you Noah but I think the general rule of thumb around is here is to try be positive as possible about the recruits.  Remember these guys are still kids that are young and have immature tendencies.  In no way are they grown men. They have yet to play a possession even in a practice situation at Indiana. You don’t have to worship them, but bashing them in a public forum is not entirely fair because most of us never get to know or see them in person. This can negatively alter our perception of them before their actual time is due.  If something needs to be addressed I am sure Coach Crean will get the message across somehow. Thanks though and keep it classy.  I have learned that a select choice of words can get the point across perfectly or horrendously.  Choose your words carefully to describe what you see and you win.

I am one of those people but now agree with you. The kid can play and with a good PG will be even better.

  • Hoosier7883

    Not religious, spiritual.

“What do you guys think of C. Hartman being lazy and not being able to dominate any game?” It’s obvious you’re not a graduate of our esteemed law school because that is a leading question. I think you ought to leave the recruiting to CTC and just sit back and enjoy the guys who end up on his roster.

  • superhoops

Dunker and a blocker.  1 shot in the video from about 10′, 1 hook and the rest dunks.  Nice blocks on smaller players.  He should be dominating in HS and AAU.  He doesn’t.  Plenty of bigs have gone through AAU in the past and put up numbers, Cody being one of them.  Pass on Beejay.  So what if Yogi or someone else dumps it down.  In the Big 10, he’ll face guys his size and bigger and those easy dunks on the video over 6’3 and shorter guys won’t be there.  Pass.

For those concerned whether Anya fits coach Crean’s style of getting out on the break he is exactly what we need in a post player.  What better way to start the break than from a big block or rebound?  The kid has a +12 wingspan!  With Zeller (possibly), Perea, Fischer, and Lyles all having the ability to get up and down the floor Anya would balance that out with great defense and rebounding to start the break.

  • spiderman0551

Saw some nice moves I hadn’t seen before and his timing is awesome but the main thing is……so strong….too strong for most and he’s still a kid.  Could be a really good one.

  • Wmrobinson717

Z Bo is an offensive powerhouse.  one of the sweetest shots for a big man in the NBA. that would be a huge improvement from this video of exclusively dunks.
