• I think it’s going to come down to if Coach Crean wants another big or another wing. I’d be very happy with either Beejay or Bo Zeigler.

P.S. I’m liking all the Cubs advertisements on the site now. Looks like Alex has switched allegiances haha.

  • Rest assured I have nothing to do with it. Neither does Corazza.

  • Sammy

    1) Anya is very sought after and will be tough to get him to IU.  Also, watching his game last week he is not yet polished on O.  He threw up some baby hooks that were not very pretty.  On D he is very long and always looked to block out, he actually looked for a man first before seeing where the ball was even going which sometimes hurt him.  I still would like to see him at IU though.
    2) You are probably seeing a lot of Cub’s ads b/c you have been on Cub’s sites…same reason i am seeing a lot Kate Upton related stuff…just kidding

  • Daburns0

I thought he forgot about us, but then talked about IU the most.  Would be surprised to see him come, but you never know (especially with CTC).

  • N71

I had thought this ship had sailed but after the video I would say we are a leading school for BeeJay.  He is exactly what is missing, a thick guy who can move another big off the block.  OSU and MSU will surely reload with other big, thick dudes so we need an answer.  A 6′ 9″ 265 lb beast that won’t let Victor get knocked down again would answer that bell.  I would say we already have good wings in Davis and Hartman, and a 5 in Fischer, a dump truck 4 would be the perfect addition.

  • Hoosierfan 60

Not too sure of your logic Sammy. I get ‘Date Muslim Singles’ and ‘Four-legged Girlfriends Down on the Farm’ ads… and I haven’t been on any Cub’s sites!

  • IUfanPurduePhD

Too bad the video was edited, cutting out his 27-minute speech about Crean, IU, and Oladipo.

  • Hardwood83

I’m a bit surprised to hear this too- I had written him off after the Fischer commit. Definitely a B1G ready body and would add some beef to an otherwise slender IU line-up.

Very curious how the scholly numbers will work out next couple of yrs. I don’t want to see anyone leave, if I had to guess I’d say Jurkin goes to Prep school for a year- but that doesn’t solve the crunch in 2013.

  • I agree wholeheartedly.  A lauderdale type and he is young.  You can polish his O game.  That size paired with the skill set we have in place would be amazing.

  • KraigIU

No way Jurkin goes to prep school.  I have no idea on the level of competition he has been playing but from what I’ve been seeing/reading on here on how his season has went I believe he’ll be able to give some quality minutes off the bench next year for us.

  • 888

We got a shot. He might be the guy who waits till spring his senior year to see what pans out
before he comits to anyone. Id be fine with that. Well be coming off a great year next year and he might want to be a part of that. If we dont get him well be fine though. Jurkins lookn better by the day and if he develops like vic and will LOOK OUT.

  • Hardwood83

Maybe, I don’t know. But if you’re right then either someone currently on the team leaves early or another of the recruits doesn’t show. Everyone always says ‘it will work out’ and no doubt it will, I’m just curious how. Etherington is the most likely suspect to move on, but I hope not. Also, gotta wonder if Creek will make it back- I sure hope so, poor kid has paid his dues.

  • john jaacob jingle hymer

Jeremy Bauman, the kid doing the interview graduated from Indiana last year. Nice to see young Indiana Grads making moves…

  • Dbfelker

I agree that it would be nice to have him as that beefy strong player but I feel Hanner ads that similar need in a lot of ways. He may not be as thick but he is strong and a great shot blocker who will be hard to push around on the block. He will make up for his slender size with quickness. Although hanner isn’t fundamentally sound yet he is an unbelievable athlete that will give everyone fits on O and D.

  • Remy Willing and Abell

Who would you rather have Ficsher , Anya , or Ziegler ?

  • BigWillyIU

Was that our own Luke Fischer getting denied at the rim by Mr. Anya at the 1:52 mark?

  • nakedsamurai

Fischer is a given.  Anya is intriguing, but I have doubts about his speed given the IU playing style and transition game.  Ziegler I know little about — there is scant footage of him available online.

  • HoosierDadE

I’ll give the cliff notes version…

BeeJay…”I mean, I will pick IU…my boy VO loves it there and I feel at home with CTC in the staff.  I just want to let the other schools down easy, I’m just that type of guy before I play them on the court w/ an IU jersey on and drop 15pts and 10rebounds.  I think me and the Big Handsome will play well together becasue he told me he would stay all four years.  And who wouldn’t want to get passes from a guy named Yogi.  I loved that show growing up.  But in the end, IU all the way.”

  • Remy Willing and Abell

A given because he is coming …or because of his talent ?

  • Remy Willing and Abell

This Alexander kid in the 14 class seems to be a big target at that position too . That may play into it as well. Man it’s good to have these problems again !

  • HoosierTrav

This may sound crazy but i really hope we are done adding to the 2013 class.. i think if we do add anya, it will jeopardize our chances at lyle the next year. i would hate to lose lyle. paired with lyles, that will be a devastating point/forward combo. ive been following lyle on twitter and he seems extremely interested in sparty.. talks about their games regularly. hasnt posted anything about IU since his visit to msu when they spanked us. in my heart i feel like the scholly situation and wealth of depth was what caused harris to commit to sparty. i dont want that to be an issue with lyle. this may be a non issue but who knows.

  • calbert40

    Me too!  Go Cubbies!

  • Kokomo_Joe

If PJ doesn’t reclassify, then the most obvious is Etherington.  I can’t see DE leaving his SR year when the team is finally good again.

I have wanted to see AE all year, but we have seen very little.  The kid is 6’6″ and he won the 3 pt contest which means he can shoot.

Creek will be back unless hurt.  He will be a SR academically and he isn’t going anywhere.  Even if he is hurt his scholly counts and there will be 14 next year.

I would hate to see AE get a limited chance to be here when he was banging the drum for IU when we were something like 6-25.  Carlino decommitted and AE stayed.  He wasn’t the reason CZ, Buss, Yogi, PJ and Hanner cam here, but he sure did work on them and was the bug in their ear.

  • calbert40

I kinda feel the same way.  Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see Anya wearing candy stripes, but we already have 13 scholarships for that season.  Truthfully, I’d like to have Anya over some of our other recruits from that class, but if it came down to having Anya or Lyle, I’d take Lyle in a heartbeat.  He is going to be amazing!

Think it could be that Crean knows he does not have a very good chance for lyle?
Purely speculation on my part i have no info to back that up.  I’m just saying that if we are showing a lot of interest in Anya and I would almsot gurantee that Crean follows Lyle on twitter and knows he is leaning towards MSU.  Like i said purely speculation

  • WatchingYogi_atYogis

Not too polished offensively, sounds like another guy I know starting out that is working pretty well for us.

VO.  (obviously not the only way I associate those guys).

Anya is probably the guy who hasn’t committed already I’m most hopeful/excited will end up in Crean and crimson.

  • catronhoosier

I know this is not on topic but i need a way to get this out of me. I am very very dissappointed that barlow go kicked off.  I woul have loved nothing more than to have oldadipo, zeller, or sheehey throw one down on him in the midst of us kicking the @*#& out of purdue.  But i think we all saw this coming, he has been a thug his whole career.  But now we should wipe the floor with purdue.  but lets take care of iowa, nc central, minnesota, and msu first

  • Evansville Hoosier

I like Anya, but if I’m choosing between him and 2014 Lyle, Alexander, or Russell my list goes
    Alexander
    Russell
    Lyle
    Anya
Personally I like D’angelo Russell’s game a lot, but it seems our recruitment of him has dropped off since he moved to Florida. Alexander is in Chicago, so it may be tough to get him. I’ve watched Lyle since I live in Evansville, and you don’t notice and he has an amazing game. It surprises you. Anyway, I’d love to have any of them

  • jennifer1

    Both

  • calbert40

I hope you are wrong, but you might not be.  I got the feeling last year that Lyle was a sure thing, but this year, he seems to be leaning MSU.  Still, he and Blackmon are awfully tight, so we might still have a good shot.

A ’14 class of Lyles, Blackmon and Lyle would be amazing.

  • 888

I would say that we are still the favs for Lyle. It makes no sense for him to go up there when his aau buddies are at IU. MSU is having a good year this year but I have a feeling that next year when Greens gone they wont be as tough.  Still good but well be the favs next year. I could be wrong. I thing CTC will return the favor to IZZO this yaer and have Lyle come to watch us kick the crap out of MSU in afew weeks. If he sits behind their bench then we should be worried.

  • Southport65

This kid is big, can dunk, and swat balls into the bleachers but he is very slow. He is always trailing his team up and down the court. Coach would have to do some serious work to get him to IU and Big Ten game speed. I think he would be a big project but if he can get a lot quicker he could be a great player. IMHO another player should not give up their scholarship for Anya.

He is actually not all that slow, and from the game i saw he always hustled down the floor.  Obviously he would need some breathers though…

  • The_Real_Assembly_Hall

    Go Redbirds!!

  • SCHoosier

I’d like to have the kid..butyou are correct..if Perea and Jurkin develop as hoped…IU is in good shape..period.

  • SCHoosier

Well there’s a choice to make between those two (I don’t think Ziegler will leave state of Michigan)..cause there are three Zieglers in one Anya body:)

  • Jmfriedman

    “Pub-lic in-tox. clap, clap, clapclapclap”…… Sure thing at the IU-PU game in B town…

  • Kelin Blab

As stated before Etherington has ZERO % chance of leaving the program, in fact Crean on his show recently said expect big things from Austin. He could very well have the Sophomore leap next season.

  • DannerPerea

Byrd may be out for the rest of the season too..no mention of how long the suspension is, just that he’ll be out for their upcoming MSU game. Could be longer. I don’t know what the coaching staff thinks of their player assaulting an employee of a local bar and then being charged with PI…

  • DannerPerea

Depth isnt going to be a problem…the way i see it, we’re soon going to have 10 guys averaging 20 minutes per game. Maybe we should petition the NCAA to let us have two seeds in the tournament with an “A” and “B” team.

Or maybe if Purdue has to keep kicking players off their team for being thug degenerates, we can get to have some of their unused scholarships?

  • Geoff_85

Yeah, when I saw him play it wasn’t a matter of him being slow, but perhaps conditioning. I’m not sure why he wouldn’t be well conditioned at this point of the season, but that was the feeling I got.

  • Geoff_85

    “Got it.”

  • Mister Slippery

I’m curious with Byrd. Barlow had a string of issues, but this might be Byrd’s first screw-up. Anyone know?

  • HoosierPat

Just a bunch of WLBs. Haha go Reds! I love the rivalry though.
