Dominique Ferguson to Kentucky

by in Recruiting | April 29th, 2008

Dominique FergusonI just spoke with Lawrence North 2010 forward Dominique Ferguson and he confirmed that he committed to Kentucky about an hour ago. Ferguson is one of the top 10 players in the 2010 class and visited Indiana last fall several times when Kelvin Sampson was still running the show. This is a huge get for UK as Ferguson is one of the most versatile players in the 2010 class and should be a five-star prospect when Rivals and Scout release their rankings after the spring evaluation period.

Dominique Ferguson providing a boost off the bench for Lawrence North

ferguson2.jpgIndianapolis Lawrence North is off to a 7-1 start and a big part of their success is 6’9″ sophomore Dominique Ferguson.

Ferguson is one of the top 10 sophomores in the country according to Scout.com and Inside the Hall caught up with him to get an update on his play this season.

“I’m the sixth man, off the bench, but I’m one of the leading scorers. I really don’t care about coming off the bench right now because everybody starting over me are upperclassmen,” Ferguson said.

“I’ve been working on my outside game a lot, but I’ve been playing on the inside a lot because that’s where I score all of my points because everybody’s smaller than me. After practice, I work on my jump shot.”

The only loss for the Wildcats was at then No. 1 Marion, but Ferguson said his team has bounced back after the 71-63 loss to the Giants.

“We didn’t execute things right, but we’ve come back after that and done pretty well,” Ferguson said.

Besides his outside shot, he’s also putting an emphasis on becoming a better defender.

Dominique Ferguson one to watch in 2010

by in Recruiting | October 17th, 2007

Dominique FergusonOne name in the 2010 class that fans of basketball in the state of Indiana will be hearing a lot over the next three years is Dominique Ferguson of Lawrence North. Alongside Stephan Van Treese and Jeff Robinson, the 6’9″, 205-pound Ferguson will help form arguably the best frontcourt in the state. And he’s quickly becoming a recruiting target for several high major programs.

Ferguson is projected as a three at the college level and is an intriguing prospect given his size and quickness.

“I like to play an inside-out game. I like to play outside and then work my way in. I’m kind of a wing type, slasher. It seems like on defense I can intimidate people because I’ve got really long arms,” Ferguson said.

Ferguson has battled injuries over the last two years, but is now 100% and ready to make an impact this year.
