MANKATO, Minn. – John Marshall (Minn.) forward Matthew Hurt is one of the most coveted prospects in the country and already holds scholarship offers from every blueblood program.

Hurt, a top five prospect in the class of 2019, took an unofficial visit to Bloomington earlier this fall. Inside the Hall was at Mankato East High School on Thursday, Jan. 4 as Hurt and John Marshall fell 75-63 to East. Hurt finished the game with 30 points and 15 rebounds.

Really hoping we can get this guy. He is a fantastic all-around player and seems to have a great attitude.

We aren’t currently even on his Crystal ball listings, although Louisville and Minnesota both are. I’d hope that changes in response to events…

I’d be shocked if Loseville and Minny remain on his final list. KU sounds like the one to beat.

If he chooses IU, potentially bigger impact that Cody Z! We played against Larry Bird in high school, and at the same stage of high school, this kid has more talent and plays against better competition.

So are we not recruiting a guard? Just sticking with Robert P, Green, Durham and McRoberts?

  • IU_theoracle

I really don’t put much stock into crystal ball, they rarely update their rankings and have missed on many recruits recently. I would like to know what our realistic chances are for landing this kid.

Why do some comments post automatically while others are pending??

i think the value in the predictions is looking at the most recent, following the trends. unfortunately for us, RL is trending big time toward vandy.

Anderson and Hunter have been said to be recruited as big guards by Archie.

  • Ivan Renko

Damezi has said that Archie wants him to improve his ball-handling and play SG.

I would agree with that for the most part. I know in the case of Matthew Hurt that Crystal Ball has him listed as a favorite for Louisville and it hasn’t been updated since the summer of 2016. So I’m not putting much stock in Crystal Ball for him. In regards to Romeo Langford, I’m believing nothing at this point. I’m not saying that he won’t go to Vandy, but I live in the area and have attended lots of New Albany games this season and no one really has any clue where he’s going so the fact anyone claims to have inside information is just hog wash. For years everyone said he was going to Duke, then Duke didn’t even make his final seven list, then it was U of L and they got into trouble. The truth is that no one has an idea where he’s going out of his final three but I believe it’s really between IU and Vandy with it being very close between the two.

    Isn’t his brother at Minny?
